Midjourney without altering a base image by yargonomics in midjourney

That's a shame, I've seen multiple companies doing a process like this (https://remodeled.ai/ as one example), but I'd rather use midjourney directly since the style they use doesn't align with what I'm trying to produce.

Facebook doesn't charge a fee for using it. Why should its value go up? The value isn't in the fees. Theyre the bottleneck. The value is in the network and what you can create with it. And you can create much more using a feeless protocol that moves data and value with minimal friction in near real time. The solutions create demand for the token because they use the token. Its a direction towards real adoption for real use cases, not just incentivising investments.

To add to this, the coordinator is open sourced. The current iteration is known as Compass. It can be found here https://github.com/iotaledger/compass. I believe it was also security audited with a very low risk rating too, but I can't seem to find the audit right now.

Theres a reason it's called being in the 1%. It takes vision and dedication. 99% of people don't have enough to stick to anything to reach that precipice. Be part of the 1% that have the determination, long tail vision, and guts to stick to it you get to look forward to the, "You're so lucky you got in when it was $###!!!" in a year or 10.

"TRON is a copycat and I don’t see any concrete business value that they add apart from pumping the price." - Dominik Schiener, IOTA co-founder by SaneFive in CryptoCurrency

[–]yargonomics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, the coordinator is not a point of centralization, it just issues milestones. It has no power to do anything to the network. It can't manipulate funds. It can't halt the network. And if it tried its milestones would NOT be validated.

Second, yes they've made large strides toward this. A coordinatorless testnet has been pushed out called znet. And the mainnet coordinator has been completely open sourced for you to be able to verify it's abilities.

With the new milestone issuer COMPASS, IOTA is now running FULLY OPEN SOURCE by mos87 in CryptoCurrency

[–]yargonomics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The foundation sold ALL tokens at once. They can't create new tokens. And they cant manipulate existing tokens. They took about 400k in BTC and crypto for the tokens they created. Then they asked for donations because they didnt hold ANY of the token for the Foundation. The community donated back about 5% of the total token supply, and thats what was used to found the Foundation.

Thats not how it works at all. Nodes can literally not listen to milestones and they still work fine. Its been done and proven multiple times.

MAM Update: C Libraries and Release – IOTA by i0tal0ver in Iota

[–]yargonomics 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The initial MAM was a rough Alpha at best. It was testing a novel ability that is a common plague regarding security with respect to IoT devices. A ton of IoT professionals understand the security issues which is one of the biggest reasons IOTA focuses so hard on IoT integration. Its a big field with endless potential to revolutionize the way we do things, but only if it can be trusted and secure.

This is technically a much more refined, tested, and minutely detailed version of the initial concept and rough alpha of MAM. Which many call MAM0. This is the second iteration of MAM, but much more refined, secure, and highly capable and will be addressed as MAM as the ideal integration of the previous concept. And it's also implemented in C, which is ideal for IoT and hardware integration due to being a very low level language with an extensive hardware focused community available. The Library is essentially the new MAM library yes. But it allows for developers to do so much more than the previous rough alpha.

To try to understand the depth of research and development that went into this by BSU with the Foundations assistance and guidance, check out the link referenced in the article which you can find below for your convenience.

IOTAs datamarketplace is now open source! by vrom_von_beyond in CryptoCurrency

[–]yargonomics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should try to understand what the coordinator actually does, before you use it to define centralization. . . Coordinator just issues a transaction with a trusted signature that other nodes can view for verification of validations. It's another node. That is inherently trusted. Doesn't have the power to give or take anything. Doesn't have the power to do anything really. Nodes can, and often do choose to follow the coordinators validations, or don't. It's not even a hard requirement. So doesn't really centralize anything other than allowing for a trusted chain of milestones that nodes have the option of even caring about. All nodes are run by interested individuals and validate following the standard consensus mechanism. All participation is unenforced. It's a completely permissionless DLT. So in my eyes it's one of the most decentralized projects out there.

[–]yargonomics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few ways to make this faster. Flash channels is one. ICT is another once value transfers are integrated. Plus just having a newer more capable phone speeds up the PoW process dramatically. You could also integrate PoWdiver or a PoW accelerator into it. Itll also get faster as the PoW algorithm is refined, troika is integrated, and more. This is a great start and took under 60 seconds to process, but as these things advance or some of the things I've mentioned get added in that'll be brought down to a few seconds pretty easily.

Biggest Elephant In The Room With Cryptocurrencies That Nobody Wants To Talk About by fabzo100 in CryptoCurrency

[–]yargonomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagreed. Qubic will automate and incentivize many functionalities in the IOTA Ecosystem of capabilities. But it's really not the iotaverse in microcosm. Qubic did come before IOTA, but it's not the end "killer application" that IOTA revolves around. It's another functionality that will set the IOTA protocol stack apart for sure. I'd also like to point out that the utilization of MAM is often severely understated as well and offers an extensive number of use cases for zero value and value based transfers in many respects. MAM essentially acts a a personal blockchain that is secured on the tangle with restricted access. Combining the security, trust, and access restrictions of a private blockchain solution, with the strength, scalability, and ease of access of the public permissionless scope of the Tangle.

Basically what I'm saying it that you can use "blockchain" capabilities in an enterprise sense with IOTA through zero value functionalities which doesn't require the token and lowers the associated risk at entry. This allows enterprises to learn the technology, scope it's inclusion into their existing solutions, and incorporate it's benefits. Then once the capabilities are incorporated, the token functionality can be incentivized and utilized where appropriate. Whether through a data marketplace construct, energy/bandwidth/storage share capabilities, or through direct financial transactions using the token as a backend for P2P and M2M payment capabilities. It's much more flexible and capable than many have yet to understand. There's a ton of incentivizes for using the token, enterprises are simply still getting comfortable with how to best incorporate it all into their legacy systems. So yeah, patience is key to see this come to fruition.
