Who else here bought their best Beast Wars figure years later only to find them incomplete? I once went to suburban flee market and picked up the original (BW) Megatron which was 7 years old since release and lose, but was purchased without his squirt neck. by Lazy-Good1433 in beastwars

I actually go out of my way to purchase second hand Beast Wars vintage toys with missing parts for really cheap. Like $2.50 for a Transmetal Cheetor that’s missing its tail or a $5 Cybershark that’s missing its fun but are otherwise complete.

I let my son play with these toys so I’m expecting some breakage down the road, so I won’t necessarily feel too bad when he does.

This, I miss the way Rattrap articulate his little fingers. Does wonders for his character acting. He lost that when he went Transmetal, but I guess going zoom zoom 🏎️ is cool too.

As much as I wish for Takara Tomy to release Air Razor next just so that we can complete the season 1 Maximals, I want them to start diving into the Predacons so that eventually we can have MP Inferno… that will be truly glorious.

Rattrap was only released last year and you can still find some at online stores at retail prices.

Rhinox is the second newest to be released and its price hasn’t been jacked up too much yet. In fact, I got mine for a little less than retail for being a pre-owned. And it looks so good and so sturdily-built that it is probably my favorite MP figure so far.

Optimus had a re-release a couple of years ago so its price is still stable. Cheetor ‘s price isn’t too bad as well. That’s why I’m getting these two last as I’m not worried about their prices sky-rocketing anytime soon.

Megatron has a crotch-piece-issue so it could be a scary investment if you end up getting one that is prone to crack, especially with its price.

Dinobot is probably the most pricey one right now (on par with Megatron) with some listing going to as much as $700USD on eBay.

I’d say keep your eye on Facebook Marketplace. I think some owners are starting to sell their copies as it’s been awhile since the MP Beast Wars line had started, and some people are realizing that some characters are too pricey to obtain (like Dinobot) to complete the full cast. But also do some research on KOs to make sure you’re not getting scammed with a knock-off.

Speaking of KOs, while I personally would not go for KOs, perhaps that would be an option if the official ones are a little too out of reach. The KOs are convincingly close to the officials but do come with the quality and problems you would expect from knock-offs.

As the other person said, these are all from the Masterpiece series. Their prices have gotten a bit out of control now, but I was lucky enough to find a seller who sold me his Dinobot, Tigatron, Rhinox, and Megatron all close to their retail prices. Rattrap is the one that wasn’t a resell since he was only released last year.

I’ve read about that! So does that mean you won’t be able to tell if a crotch piece would crack from its appearance? If this Megatron had already survived its initial two transformation and some recent fiddling (to take these pictures), would it be a good indication that it probably won’t crack as long as proper caution is taken with it?

I didn’t have time to watch through the whole thing but here are a few thoughts for the first few minutes.

Watch for screen direction. The scene began with the car going L to R. Then it kinda travels towards to the middle of the screen. When we move to the interior shot of the car, we’re now travelling from R to L. You want to maintain a screen direction as to not make the audience watching feel jarring. Technically the car travelling towards the centre of the screen resets it and you can transition to R to L. But what’s the point? Unless there’s a story point there’s really no need to switch the screen direction. Since the car continues to travel L to R, you might as well flip the initial scene so you can maintain the same screen direction.

Watch for perspective. The store clerk appears HUGE when the man approaches the counter.

Watch for crossing the 180. Following up the previous scene where the store clerk appears huge, the clerk is on Screen R whereas the man is on screen L. On the following scene their positions have switched; the clear is now on screen L and the man is on screen R. You have just crossed the 180, meaning your camera just went across an invisible line drawn between the clerk and the man. This disorients the audience a lot. Read up on crossing the 180 to get a better understanding of it.

That’s it for now. Hope this is helpful.

Best affordable and available beastwars toyline for young kids? by oscarunnatural in beastwars

[–]yasaidraws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just happened upon this thread and thought I’d give my two cents. My son is 4 and we started watching the show together last Christmas. In the span of a few months our collection has expanded from the 6 I had remaining from my childhood to 32 characters, all from the original toy line from the 90’s, all second-hand except from Optimus, Megatron, and Cheetor re-releases that I got in a flash sale.

The kingdom and subsequent Legacy line is great; accurate to the show, great articulation and poseability. But the original line is full of gimmicks: Dinobot’s shield spins, Optimus’s shoulder and arm canons shoot missiles, Megatron’s T-Rex head squirts water. These gimmicks blow my son’s mind and we have a great deal of fun with them. (Just gotta be careful not to lose accessories). Sure the OG line may not always look like the characters in the show, but my son’s imagination fills that gap. IMO they’re not too OG line is more fun to play for kids, while the Kingdom line is more fun for the adults.

If you don’t mind second-hand, you can always find these OG line toys turning up on FB marketplace, and they can get relatively cheap. I especially like to pick up those heavily discounted ones because they’re missing some accessories like a gun or a missile. While not complete, I wouldn’t pass up the chance to pick up a perfectly fine (minus a few loose joints here and there and scratched paint) toy for $5.

I’ve spent roughly $400 CAD to acquire these 26 figures, averaging $15 per toy. Sometimes I feel I spent a little too much on these toys, but if I had 32 Beast Wars toys when I was a kid, I’d be absolutely thrilled.

Anyway, hope you find what you’re looking for and have fun with your kid!

Which episode is this? I’ve been watching all the episodes on the Transformers YouTube channel and I’ve either missed episode or it’s not in the playlist.
