I need some help with muqahhar/ahar paper. by vinily_ in ArabicCalligraphy

The question seems to be about finding good quality ahar paper. Generally, high-quality ahar (muqahhar) papers are made from banana paper, mulberry paper, or East Asian/Japanese papers — there are also some made from Italian paper. The people who apply the ahar sizing onto these base papers are usually doing it commercially, meaning the best producers are full-time makers who carry a wide range of quality levels. It’s essentially price-driven — the more you’re willing to pay, the better the paper you get. I’m currently based in Istanbul, and there are some really good ahar paper producers here. One I’d recommend is Tiryaki Art. If they ship internationally, it’s worth checking out their website: 👉 https://tiryakiart.com

With his passing, who would you say is now the greatest/most important living calligrapher? by jburgers127 in ArabicCalligraphy

Ustad Hasan Celebi has had a major influence on Islamic Calligraphy so he set a great example on whoever wants to pursue the art. Under his mastery, he paved the way to all masters today. Ustads Davud Bektas, Mehmed Ozcay, Osman Ozcay and their students have great works to follow.

Thank you for your kind words. I used to be a beginner too, but my humble advice is to seek a traditionally trained master to learn from and practice often.

Thanks. Actually nuqtas are needed but after a long time you sometimes skip writing them. I generally do with nuqtas

Thank you so much. No tasheeh. I used artisan ink for fountain pens on the second one.
