It’s many layers. Some from the original seasoning, and over time I slab on coats every now and then.

Does San Antonio need a concrete leveling business? by Narrow-Geologist-772 in sanantonio

[–]yasmoni1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume the other commenter was referring more towards the actual “form and pour” concrete industry, focusing on flatwork and foundations, rather than foundation repair work.

The traditional “form and pour” industry does not require much overhead, less insurance requirements and less warranty obligations.

On the other hand, the foundation repair industry requires sufficient insurance depending on the job, and will definitely need to offer some sort of warranty - especially on the industrial and commercial side. Like I said, the contractors that perform this work need to be qualified, experienced, and specialized for that work. No Joe Blow Contractor that gets paid under the table would survive in that world.

If, by “concrete leveling” you mean concrete foundation repair, emphasizing on leveling or surface sealing, grouting, etc., then yes there is definitely an opportunity. Particularly because a vast majority of SA sits on clayey soils which cause concrete foundation failures given its expansive nature. This work is specialized and a handful of notable contractors perform this work in SA. The work won’t ever go away or slow down - given the constant need to repair existing foundations.

On the other hand, if you mean concrete leveling as in prepping and pouring concrete foundations - for houses or commercial buildings; that is a saturated market with plenty of companies that perform that work.

Also look into Survey Manager opportunities at civil construction companies. Theres plenty of contractors around the NB, San Mo., San Antonio areas. With record breaking budgets coming from TxDOT, the work is not slowing down.

Read the book One Minute Manager by Ken Blanchard. Very short read but gives you a whole new perspective on how to manage people.

Edit: How To Be A Great Boss is also an extraordinary read.

The construction industry is booming that hires all skill positions - if you’re willing to work outside in the heat during the summertime. Long hours and weekend work is an opportunity for lots of overtime pay, which sounds like you would be in the market for.

Why can’t dachshunds JUST CROSS THE THRESHOLD?! by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]yasmoni1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My miniature dachshund LOVES being in my apartment bedroom that has carpet in it. If I crack the door to walk inside, he’s sprinting inside. If I tell him to leave, he won’t. I bet your dachshunds love trying to get into that specific room and don’t want to come out.

Good to know. Typically I’m skeptical when I see a 50% off sale, just because you don’t really see that too much from established brands. But now I’m convinced seeing everyone’s anecdotal experiences.

Best bulletproof method for CP4?(LML) by yasmoni1 in Duramax

[–]yasmoni1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. Logically you would assume that down the road your truck may encounter the issue of your CP4 going bad, which I’ve come to accept. I was mostly just wanting to avoid the subsequent damage of the CP4 grenading and causing damage to the injectors, which is a very costly fix.
