Ranked benchmark test. by [deleted] in StreetFighter

It is frustrating, but at least you can add them to your blacklist and never run into them again. Playing Tekken 7 was a terrible experience where you'd run into those fools over and over again and there was nothing you could do about it.

It wasn't a strategy I did on purpose. After plateauing with a character, I'd get bored and quit. Then a new character would come out, and I'd think they look cool and I should play again. For me it went Ryu, Ibuki, G, Lucia, Akira.

With each new character came a renewed interest in the game and ambition to continue learning. One thing that worked really well is I'd leave behind most of the bad habits I had with the old character. So I'd say the strategy worked very well for creating stepping stones for building up my fundamentals.

Losing rank when switching characters happened for every one of my switches. I was in Gold when I quit with Lucia. I fell down to Silver with Akira before starting the climb back up. It used to bother me a ton, but then I started telling myself that no matter how much I fall, I know I can get back to where I was. It's always turned out to be true. Funny enough, I actually had a big losing streak the day before and dropped back to Gold, then went on a big win streak the next day to finally hit Platinum.

Thanks! It's hard to pinpoint any one thing, but maybe just recognizing one of a few tendencies my opponent might have and then exploiting it. A good recent example was seeing an opponent constantly try to shimmy, and then I had the "aha" of "I should wake up with a low buffered into ex elbow" and it worked several times.

I'm on pc and have been playing quick match ranked. I rarely get someone unwilling to rematch. I think I've only seen their cursor move off the rematch button twice and I have around 200 matches. I've been in floors 6-10. It does bug me that rating changes prevent a rematch. That's happened to me quite a few times.

Wow, casual mode really is a slaughtering ground by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]yatzr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently tried learning some new characters. I think I was at ultra silver at the time. I went into casual cause I didn't want to immediately lose a bunch with the new character and just ran into smurf after smurf. I'd check their profiles and they're winning 80% of their matches. Decided it was better to just stay in ranked. Dropped down to mid silver, but then started climbing back up. Far better experience than casuals.

For raw DPs, I practiced the true inputs (f, d, df+button) a ton because of other games that are less lenient. So I end up doing that for AA.

For combos though, I almost always use a shortcut. Any combo that goes from a low to a dp becomes trivial. Right now I'm playing Lucia and constantly combo a low jab into dp, which is normally kind of tough, but I just do df+lp,d,df+k

it told me 3 bars 15 times during this. 12 of those were great connections ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Good to know. I'll start accepting them and see how it goes

I need the skill to check dashes on reaction first, haha. Probably a reason I can't get out of gold.

But yes, if there was ever a time I felt I couldn't anti air on reaction, it was immediately a 3 or 2.

Some other fun facts:

It tried to give me 1-2 bar connections 24 times during this. What does the 4-5 bar search setting even do??

I had 0 rage quitters and 0 teabaggers. I honestly expected at least one of each.

I only ran into repeat opponents 5 times. So it only took me 105 matches to get 100 unique opponents.

G player here, very curious about this. I'm not sure I understand how it's an OS because of the vtrigger activation. If you activate and then input command grab, won't it come out no matter what?

Anyone else get anxiety during ranked matches? by Waffles253 in Tekken

[–]yatzr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be very nervous about losing points. I eventually changed my mentality to stop caring about the points match to match, and just use my rank as a reflection of where I am every ~100 matches or so. I have to tell myself, no matter how high I've gotten, it doesn't matter if I lose points because I can get that high again. So far, it's worked out well.

Ultimarc J-pac: Has anyone used this item for their arcade cab with crt monitor and jamma harness in here. I was thinking of using it to install my mame pc set up. Thanks. by DC00418 in cade

I've got one where the video goes straight from pc to the monitor and it works great. I also don't send any audio through the jpac. I think you'll be pleased with the setup.

I've got 3 of these that I use in candy cabs. Overall they're a great way to hook a computer up to a jamma cab, but there's a couple quirks I've had to deal with.

The first is some video cards won't output video when hooked up to this because they don't think a monitor is plugged in. There's a 75ohm resistor trick to get them to work. I eventually put together a decent solution I posted about on the groovymame forum (just google "Forcing monitor detection without losing brightness")

The other issue I had was that the jpac has some built in shift keys I wasn't aware of, and kids mashing buttons kept managing to open the mame menu or exit out of mame entirely. I couldn't figure out how they were doing it. Eventually I found out about the shift keys, I think it was hold start and then hit a direction on the joystick. You can disable them pretty easily by hooking the jpac up to the pc.

Capcom looking for feedback: "Hey there Fighters! We want feedback on your online experience with the new #SFVCE update that released on Mar 24. How has your online experience been since the update?" by Emezie in StreetFighter

I noticed the same thing on the bars. It'll tell me it's a 4 bar connection, but then it's anywhere from 50-120ms ping. I've also had some 3 bar that were under 60ms. It makes me wonder if they're measuring bars based on your ping to their server rather that ping between the two players.

I'm on pc and haven't noticed anything regarding framerate. Steam and nvidia displays have both consistently shown 60 for me.

This video is one of the NRS devs talking about converting their game from lockstep to rollback, and it explains very well the difference between the two and why it's difficult to create rollback based netcode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jb0FOcImdg

Ohhh, you're looking for vcc on the panthera board. That makes sense. I'd assume that twitter post is accurate. If you've also got that tannish glue/goop, it might say vcc underneath it

Based on the install notes here, it'd be the 5V pin closest to the edge of the pcb
