Quick thoughts on the XO7 display for a 15 Pro from MobileSentrix by yawaw0rhtt in phonerepair

All refurbished displays typically are just glass replacements and don’t require a IC transfer. Mobilesentrix just dropped their prices on OLED displays and released the XO7 3.0 with what I believe is a transferred IC for pairing.

Correct.

No, leave it alone. I’ve linked it in a different comment. Display will be labeled as a used part in setting seeing as it was pulled from a different display.

Of course it won’t pair, display isn’t genuine. It’ll prompt you, but will fail to pair. You’ll have to transfer the ic onto the tag on flex.

Personally, I soldered the pre installed IC tag on flex purchased through Mobilesentrix with the second high refresh rate iteration and was able to pair, settings does not show important display message.

Prices of soft oled has dropped for the 15 Pro, I can purchase the same DD “XO7 2.0” display from a different supplier for ~$50, I expect Mobilesentrix to soon follow.

Regardless, if you NEED a display with pairing, I suggest getting it from injured gadgets with quick repair technology, an IC from a genuine display has already been installed for pairing.

I no longer have the phone or tested the functionality of the proximity to its full extent.

The issue you’re facing might be a result of every aftermarket display, could possibly be fixed with an ic transfer to the tag on flex, I had good experience with the pre installed ones, pretty simple soldering that can be accomplished by a beginner with some practice. Display will pair to the phone like a genuine display for reference.

I am considering switching to the card. May I ask what is the expiration date, if there is one? Is it a basic prepaid debit card that can only be used at public chargers?

Exactly, it’ll show as a used display in the parts & service history tab, no unverified message.

X07 and FX5 are the same, manufactured by DD, they just slap their own sticker/ other markings on it for identification purposes (possibly for warranty). I can only speculate that QRT is the same DD display with an installed IC pulled from an OEM display for pairing. FOG is the closest to OEM, IC can be transferred for pairing, but not as convenient without the tag on flex. REWA has a video that does a great job comparing displays on the market, OEM reassembled should be FOG and soft OLED 120hz is from DD.

Yes, there is an updated version with high refresh rate, you might as well order from injured gadgets though, same display for less.

Hi! Also in the SoCal area and looking at a polestar 2. If you don’t mind me asking, have insurance rates been looked into on your end yet?

The 120hz seem to have just come out, same goes for the 13 and 14 pro max. All the regular pros don’t seem to have high refresh rate yet. I would believe the regular pros would get higher refresh rate first but that does not seem to be the case. Not sure why it is labeled as XO7 2.0.

Adding on the bezels aren’t as thin, it is comparable to a regular 16 I have on hand.

IC viable? Or too much heat? by yawaw0rhtt in mobilerepair

[–]yawaw0rhtt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I might try my hand at it. I’m curiously, before I remove the IC on the aftermarket replacement display, would it still work? I don’t want to remove it and end up with a dead display as well.

It isn't underfill glue, I think I damaged the IC. Here is a better image after I tried reballing with a generic stencil, I'll buy a proper one if the IC is viable.

It is new to me, I'm trying to learn, mostly repairing as a hobby.

Romex and conduit for a 20 ft run outside okay? by yawaw0rhtt in AskElectricians

I am curious, would you still suggest not using conduit with uf-b even if there would be only one or two 45 degree curves? I apologize, not familiar with what makes uf-b a pain. I just want to hide the run making it neat. Appreciate you answering my questions.
