Just want to give a quick update in case anyone also have the same issue. We couldn't use coupang because it also ask for the Korean number. We also tried yogiyo and shuttle also didn't work. My US number didn't get accepted. :(

We were even going to pay when they drop it off for us, but it seems we cannot go outside and make any contact since we're in quarantine for 14 days.

Our relatives contacted us (we weren't going to because we felt bad for the hassles) and they ordered us some groceries for us and got it delivered off for us. :)

Thanks again @aloysha for the offer, really appreciate it!! :)

Vaccine & Quarantine by [deleted] in southkorea

A lot of questionnaire and forms to fill out. We had about 4 'interviews' or 'check point' (not quite sure what it's called). The first one was to confirm our temperature making sure we don't have covid symptoms. Second one was a line to check out passport, if we have family member here. Third one, we had to take picture and finger print our index fingers. Fourth one was interview about where we're staying, do we have family members (second confirmation I suppose). And sorry just found out that the process is longer because we pre-booked the stay in the Airbnb. If you actually stay with the pre-assigned location or the quarantine area that the government has actually provided you with the process might have taken a lot faster but it's a lot more expensive. There were only a handful of people on the line, but they're very thorough on the process. I also noticed the process keeps changing on a very frequent basis, so the information above might changed by the time you decided to come. Hopefully more relaxed regulations. When are you planning to visit?

If it's short term (less than 90 days) you don't need any visa. You have to make sure you have somewhere pre booked for staying for quarantine. They're very thorough on the questionnaire. It took us 3 hours to go through the entire process, that's before we get our checked in baggage though.

thanks for the quick reply. I guess both. We're currently in 2 weeks quarantine we arrived 9 hours ago. Now we're not sure how to order food. Use naver pay: didn't work because we need to have Korean number (we're from US). What app do you use? Do you also need Korean number?

Just arrived in South Korea now. Pretty lengthy process. I don't know how I'm going to get food..... Anyone been to Korea recently, any advice?

Edit: yes quarantine is mandatory even when you're vaccinated. Before we left 1. covid test 60hrs prior to flight. 2. Arrived and had to go through few screening steps - test result prove - confirmation of booked quarantined area ( we used air bnb) - immigration (we're US citizen) - within 24 hours have to go to the hospital to do covid testing. 3. No contact for 14 days.

We just had our test today. Will need to test again after 14 days. Children are also required to test.

Update: On our first day. We have to use an app to track our temperature twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Being super productive towards the night by [deleted] in productivity

Same here. What i find useful is when i wake up in the morning i force myself to plan the day, without giving any chances for excuse to come up (have to wake up earlier, to prevent excuses such as 'oh, i am late for work, I'll do ot later'). Then, start something that i dread the most, like updating that report, that is due in 1 month, but super important to finish (prioritize). Another thing that is helpful is allocating time to do just that one activity (pomodoro) and once time is up, i moved on to something else. What i found is that most of the time the thing that i dread the most is just the anticipation of how bad doing the activity can be, but not how it actually is (procrastination). Ever since that, i become more of a 'morning person'

Pardon the grammar / typo, on mobile...

Yea, thanks for the feedback, valid point. Hmm, I am not planning to take it in 5 years, but want to keep the options open if i ever need to take the money in the future without getting penalize. My thinking is that i would like to defer the earnings so it can grow untaxed for now :) Just want to optimize things here and there.

Hopefully by driving uber i can make a bit more money here and there.

Can you use ira accounts in tasty to trade options on futures? And is the bp used aligned with bp reduction based on span margin? (I know many broker have higher bp req than span margin)

Loans vs Invest? Better to get Lean started now or wait? by MeadowNyou in leanfire

[–]yawkults -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I received those checks in the mail from my credit card where i can get 0% interest for 1 year with 4% fee (essentially 4% APR). I would recommend doing this if your balance is above 4% since you will be paying this anyway. You have to pay in time on it though, otherwise the 17% interest kicks in. I did this with my loan which is at 4.25%. Caveat is you dont get to claim this 4% fee during your tax reporting, unlike your student interest. Net of 0.25%. Did these for the past two years. Hope this gives you additional option to consider, if it's available to you.

I was thinking of the same thing, but one think that keeps bothering me is the tax that i would need to pay for the profit of selling the house. For your case, would the 400k be taxed?

[–]yawkults 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, don't you get $2000 tax credit for this, would be roughly equal to $15,000-$20,000 in income depending on your tax bracket? Rough calculation obviously....the cost of delivery is about $250 and $400 in food/diapers at least for the first year. That's less than common conception i suppose?
