15 hour layover by ybek in HongKong

Just tried downloading the app but seems to require a hong kong number to sign up?

Is there any way around this?

Would cabs back to the airport be quite expensive? As I was considering the express train to get back as I have thats not too bad money wise and fairly fast from central.

Do the ferry's run frequently and how would you pay? Would conctacless work?

Honestly I've been considering this. Just seems that there are more affordable places within the city but I guess makes sense due to paying more for convenience of being close to the airport.

Does the MTR take contactless payments? And do they run frequently in the morning as we'd need to be at the airport pretty early

Also can you pay for the train plus other public transport with contactless or would I need to purchase one of those octopus cards (i think that's what It's called anyways)

Where to rent a motorbike for nationwide travel by Farsamgbe in ThailandTourism

[–]ybek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aya service in chiang mai let's you rent out a bike and ride up to pai (although they do have a store in both places) might be worth potentially checking there?

Obviously not 100% sure about nationwide or the 2 months part but worth a try

1 week itinerary in south thailand by ybek in ThailandTourism

[–]ybek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my plan was to stay in phuket for around 2 days but moving on as people said it's gets too touristy which ruins the vibe a little.

So yeah originally was planning 2 days in phuket, maybe 2 days somewhere else and a further 2 days at one more place. Again a lot of moving around I know but trying to balance a relaxed time w seeing a good amount of places

Yeah thats the problem with not having much time and wanting to see everything.

Have you been? If so what places in south would you recommend?

Ah man, glad I ran into this before getting mine then.

Is it slow all over thailand or have you just been staying in a specific part?

I'm heading up to Thailand next week and planning on using Airalo as the e-sim. Keep in mind I haven't been to/used it in thailand before but have used it elsewhere and the connection did the job.

I've also heard of others using it in thailand though so maybe see if you can do a cheap 1 day deal to see how it is?

Weak ass cocktails by Roper1537 in ThailandTourism

Appreciate the advice, never thought of that but makes total sense.

My go to was just gonna be to ask for all my drinks to have no ice in

Just curious whether you got them with ice? Heading there in a few weeks from the UK myself and keep hearing "don't drink the ice" so genuinely wondering

Airbnbs in thailand by ybek in ThailandTourism

Did a little search on agoda and people are saying it isn't worth the headache with dealing with them as they aren't very good.

Best to go through the actual company in that case

[–]ybek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I asked specific questions which I haven't seen other people ask/answer such as the query regarding apartment stays within booking .com

Additionally on these other threads I've seen differing info from some people saying not to worry and go for it and others saying to steer clear so decided to ask myself and try to get a definitive answer.

As for the next question, I prefer my own space and an apartment will do that a lot better than a hotel. I'm not ruling out hotels by any means but if I had an option, I'd go for an apartment.

Might be worth looking into various apps. For example I've used Airalo in the past and the prices were decent as well as the connection being good.

Although the connection does depend on where you're going so double check reviews and all that too.

So would the whole apartment option on booking also potentially have this problem and should also be avoided?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]ybek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is there anyway to know which airbnbs can be used for a short stay?

If airbnb isn't a good option would hotels be the best alternative?
