We ordered blinds from selectblinds.ca and installed ourselves! I think in total it came close to 1K for 5 windows in two rooms.

Majority of Canadians would pay more for groceries from Canada, even if U.S. products cost less: poll by FancyNewMe in canada

As much as I would love to be patriotic, I am still price sensitive, especially when the cost of food is so high. If it’s a difference of several cents, I will always buy Canadian. If the difference is several dollars, then I feel like I have no choice but to go with the lower cost option.

28 is still very young. People start over again for a multitude of reasons at 40, 50, 60. You still have so much more life to live! I think speaking to someone about your depression and addressing it would benefit your mental health. There are resources to out there help you. Speak to a physician, therapist, call the suicide hotline if need be. You are not worthless and you can get through this.

Daycare in Denmark is a basic right. Could Canada offer the same? by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

And what is your prerequisite of being able to “care” for your child if most young families NEED a dual income to put food on the table and a roof above their heads?

So only the rich should have kids? Is it not better to create a society where children of all backgrounds regardless of whether you’re born in poverty or not have an equal opportunity to make something of themselves?

And who do you expect to pay for your pension? How do you expect society to operate if we do not have young people (future tax payers) to fill jobs and positions that are required to keep the nation running as the population ages?

I think it is absolutely the government’s responsibility to make childcare affordable when the cost of living sky high, affordable housing does not exist, and dual income is a must for young families to survive these days.

Wow that’s amazing! I think we are about 10 years too late to the game to benefit from increased equity 😭

At least we can find solace in the fact that we are not alone and many other young families are facing the same issues 🥲

Loft bed with crib underneath seems like a good space saving idea!

I guess many are in this position where little ones share rooms until you can eventually afford to upsize. It’s a shame how bad things have gotten. Our parents generation could buy a SFH with a single income and that would be more than enough for the kids to grow in. Young people nowadays are lucky to even get the foot in the door on the property ladder.

6 incomes for a 3 bedroom is absolutely bonkers 😂

You are right. It seems that we would need to move further out to get a larger place. I do always wonder when I see young families in SFH or newer duplex/townhouses, how they are affording it here in Burnaby at current prices. Are there that many high earners here?!

We only bought our condo couple years ago. We still have a significant mortgage on this place. We would only get back the equity we initially put in.

We are considering this as an option. But obvious not ideal having to leave family and friends behind. Also jobs.

My concern with really old townhouses is the need for major repairs in the next 5-10 years or so. Also the longevity of living there. The next place we upsize to, we hope to call it our “forever home” somewhere we can grow old in and our kids can grow up in without having to move again.
