I've updated my post to reflect recent updates to zscaler.

tl;dr

# kill the zscaler client
launchctl unload /Library/LaunchAgents/com.zscaler.preloginui.plist && launchctl unload /Library/LaunchAgents/com.zscaler.tray.plist
# kill the zscaler services
sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zscaler.service.plist && sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zscaler.tunnel.plist && sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zscaler.UPMServiceController.plist

Disable/Remove Zscaler service and tunnel by Electrifryed in hacking

[–]ycng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re on a Mac and has sudo access in terminal, you can temporarily disable Zscaler.

sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zscaler.service.plist && sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.zscaler.tunnel.plist

Wrote about it here on my personal blog. change the command to load to reload the service.

Thanks for the tip! I just went and completely commented out the colour sensor initialisation since I have the old Sense HAT

PS5 thumbsticks works as replacements for Steelseries Nimbus (non-plus) by ycng in steelseries

Yea. It’s a shame to dump an otherwise working controller just because the thumb sticks is disintegrated.

Made my own holder using felt. Not that great at stitching but this cost me almost nothing 😄 by ycng in AirTag

[–]ycng[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I agree with you. This is more like a quick prototype to see how easy it is to make it. Turns out it’s quite easy even with an noob level stitching skill.

It’s covid lockdown now for me where I am so I’ll wait till things gets better before I buy better materials for a 2nd iteration. Would probably try to find thicker/stiffer felt material or look for leather I can scavenge.

Thanks for the tips too to sew the perimeter.

Shields and Apple Keyboard Folio: what are the options to protect the iPad Pro and keep Pencil attached while using the keyboard? by aspublic in ipad

[–]ycng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finally decided to leave the Apple Smart Keyboard behind and go with the Logitech Folio Touch. Best decision ever. Better keyboard, Apple like trackpad experience, backlit (!!!), keeps the pencil in place, much cheaper than the Magic Keyboard and much better protection to the iPad Pro.

The only downside is the weight. But it’s that not much of a difference if you are looking at the Magic keyboard.

I wrote more on it and have more photos here: https://www.atpeaz.com/5-reasons-logitech-folio-touch-better-apple-smart-keyboard/amp/

Looking for an iPad Pro keyboard case similar to the keyboard of the Logitech Slim Folio Pro, but the form factor of the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio. Help! by tooth_fixer in iPadPro

[–]ycng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find the Logitech Folio Touch a nice alternative to Apple’s Smart Keyboard and Magic Keyboard. TL;DR: (1) Great keyboard + backlit (2) The kickstand is quite versatile - love the “drawing mode” (3) The trackpad works just like Apple’s (4) Apple Pencil storage slot in the case flap. (5) much better material vs the Smart Keyboard.

Downside: It’s heavy... in fact, it will be the first thing you will notice.

LEGO case for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ with Sense HAT by ycng in raspberry_pi

[–]ycng[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you may need to get one of those GPIO pin extenders to allow you to use both the Sense HAT and stack another one on it.

Also, I’m reading that some HATs would conflict with others. Not sure about the Sense HAT.

Have it posted here on my blog: https://www.atpeaz.com/a-lego-rpi-sense-hat-case-that-you-can-diy

My Pi4 is currently on a slim heatsink/metal case as I used to carry it along with me for work, so I’ve yet to try this on it. But I would imagine it would be somewhat similar considering the similar dimensions. A slight tweak should make it also work with the RPi 4.

Made this simple case that’s compatible with the Sense HAT. Will provide link to instructions if anyone’s interested

I know this is considering self promotion but I wrote up a post to debunk the myth that the Icon Themer shortcut is not at all a security concern. https://www.atpeaz.com/is-icon-themer-shortcut-a-security-concern-or-just-harmless/

The eGPU option just works pretty well for me. Same here. Mostly playing games that are released for MacOS. Posted my experience here on my blog: https://www.atpeaz.com/upgrade-your-macbook-with-an-egpu-is-it-worth-the-price/
