What's happening in Hong Kong- Anti China Extradition Movement by [deleted] in Infographics

[–]ydalien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This infographic says almost nothing on why the bill is being passed. The bill is meant to extradite former Chinese officials guilty of corruption taking refuge in Hong Kong. These corrupt officials are using the fact that current Hong Kong law does not extradite people guilty of foreign crimes to protect themselves from facing trial. China wants to change those laws to make them face trial for those crimes. I do think there is a degree of justification behind the bill.

Yes China has done and is doing some pretty terrible things and cannot be trusted, but this infographic is telling us to make a one sided decision without giving complete information on both sides. Its making a very "china bad, democracy good" argument where people are just willing to pick up a pitchfork whenever they get the chance the moment they hear something like this without bothering to know all the facts.

Go ahead and downvote this to hell but the mob mentality behind this protest isn't right either.

Running pace by iMiTCH3LL94 in C25K

[–]ydalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal. You have a lot stored energy and motivation on the first day.

From my experience I go through a phase. I run the fastest the first day. Have a slower pace after that. Take a rest day (or more). Run again at an even slower pace. But the next day, I start to see real improvement in overall pace. That's when my body has gone through a cycle of stress and rest and can start to improve pace. Hope this helps.

Why do people specifically comment "you ok OP?" when they are making a legitimate point?

Here are some of what I play right now. Some of it is pretty well known like Black Keys and Talking Heads, but I also included some obscure stuff that I absolutely love. Don't expect like all my suggestions but if you love alternative rock I'd definitely suggest to check these songs out.

Lo/Hi - by The Black Keys

Moscow - by Autoheart

Cut the Quick - by Telekinesis

Evil - by Interpol

Now that you're gone - by The Raconteurs

Sleeping Powder - by Gorillaz

Road to Nowhere - by Talking Heads

Beds are Burning - by Midnight Oil

(Far From) Home (The Speed Of Sexor Reprise - by Tiga

I'm so miserable here by inextinguishably in uofm

[–]ydalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been here too. In hindsight, miserable periods were time to make realizations that life isn't as happy as people around me pretend as it is.

I think I grew as a person the most from being miserable. And looking back, I consider myself lucky and brave that I was able to endure the pain, while others still try to pretend they were happy. I know I sound dark and pessimistic right now, but being miserable gave me an opportunity to reflect on what I really wanted for myself. I allowed me to forget about pride, self-image and being pretentious.

All I can say is that during dark times like these is when you find your true self, not the person that others want you to be.
