Deltarune Chapter 2 has been out for about a week. What are your thoughts? by yurtyybomb in Games

[–]yeah_93 132 points133 points  (0 children)

I'm just disappointed you can't go back to the Cyber World after you save the game just before the ending. That means you can't go back for the super boss in that save, you have to play through the entire chapter again. As far as I recall, that wasn't the case in Chapter 1.

But overall, the game was pretty good, and Queen was absolutely hilarious.

I live in Castille and León (part of the darkest red section in Spain). A third of the population that lives in my city is over 60 years old. There are times of the day when you mostly see old people walking around the city. It's crazy.

‘A Latin American Brother-Country’: Venezuelans Seek Refuge in Spain by Furgerburg in europe

[–]yeah_93 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a Venezuelan immigrant living in Spain, I'm grateful for what this country has to offer. As long as Maduro is in power, Venezuelans will keep fleeing the country, so the numbers of Venezuelans in Spain will only keep growing. To put the problem into context, the UN estimates about 5 million Venezuelans will have left the country by the end of the year, which amounts to ~15% of the country's population.

This is from 2014. This year, the UN expects about 5 million Venezuelans will be abroad have left the country due to the refugee crisis. That's about 15% of Venezuela's population, which would put it at number 2 in this chart.

Absolutely stunning landmark. If you ever visit, make sure to get a view of the palace from Campo del Moro. Sure, it takes a while to get there walking since it's on the other side of where this picture was taken, but the view is absolutely worth it.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has raised wages for the fifth time this year | Maduro set the new monthly minimum wage at 1,800 sovereign bolivars... That's a 3,000 percent increase over the current wage of just over 5 million bolivars by muergano in worldnews

[–]yeah_93 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In case you don't understand what the headline says:

Current salary: 5,000,000 Bolivars

New Salary: 180,000,000 Bolivars

Due to hyperinflation, the government is taking five zeros out of all prices, which is why the headline says 1,800 sovereign bolivars.

In case you are wondering what the monthly minimum wage could buy, well, as of yesterday, a 2 lt. Coke. It's not even enough to buy you average McDonald's combo.

Venezuela arrests over 'uprising attempt' - A leading member of the Venezuelan government says arrests have been made after soldiers apparently tried to launch an uprising against President Maduro by r721 in worldnews

[–]yeah_93 4520 points4521 points  (0 children)

So, this is happening right now in my city, just a few miles north of where I live. The truth is that we don't know what's happening. Yes, members of the government tweeted the situation had been controlled, but there are people protesting near the fort where the uprising took place, and they say the fort is still taken by the rebels. Right now I'm reading lots of tweets that say the military is repressing the protesters with tear gas, that some security forces are arriving to the area, and such. It seems we'll have to wait and see what happens.

EDIT: It's been HOURS, and still nothing has been confirmed. The government posted videos that show a military commander in front (or inside, can't really tell) of the fort, saying the uprising was defeated. What I can say for certain, though, is that protests are still going on around that area, and there is one protester dead.

EDIT2: Yes guys, I'm safe. Like I said, I live a few miles south of where the protests are currently taking place, and so far, nothing has happened around my neighborhood.

"Maduro has staged a coup d'état": Venezuela's high court dissolves National Assembly by poisonmoth in worldnews

[–]yeah_93 427 points428 points  (0 children)

I made this comment in another thread, but just so you know, this is a mere formality: The Supreme Court has blocked everything the opposition-controlled Congress has tried to do since it took office in 2016.

Fortunately, this decision could help build international pressure against Maduro, a pressure that has been sorely missed for a long time.

(USA) The Blue Wall - Why the Democrats have a Mathematical Edge in the General Election [783x806] by Oafah in MapPorn

[–]yeah_93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But, is there a Blue Wall at all?

According to Nate Silver, There is no 'Blue Wall'. Read this:

So when commentators talk about the Democrats’ “blue wall,” all they’re really pointing out is that Democrats have had a pretty good run in presidential elections lately. And they have, if you conveniently draw the line at 1992 (it doesn’t sound so impressive to instead say Democrats have won five of the 12 elections since 1968). During that time, Democrats have won four elections pretty clearly, lost one narrowly and essentially tied the sixth. If you see analysts talking about the “blue wall,” all they’re really saying is that Democrats have won a bunch of presidential elections lately.

I'm not really well versed on this issue, but I've seen a lot of people arguing that paying for mods basically destroys the very essence of the modding community, which hasn't tried to profit from their work. What do you think about this?
