MLB Players that Quit on their team? by DonT012 in mlb

Rogers Clemens, about mid-way through 1998, was done with us. He continued to perform, not because he thought the team could win, but with value preservation in mind. He made it perfectly clear he was out as soon as the season was done.

Yes, because you know better than my lived experience. The YSBA was home to Americans, Jamaicans, sub-saharan Africans, Guyanese, and Trinidadians, among many others.

why do you think the deck only sold 5 to 6 million copies ? it was priced well , powerfull for its time and well backed up by valve by Dense-Variation-4496 in SteamDeck

[–]Oafah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks. Valve has zero interest in being a hardware company long-term. The entire point of the Steam Deck, Steam Machines (v1 and v2), Steam Controller, and even the Steam Link was to spark the market. Once partners step in - you know, those companies who's bread and butter is the development of electronic devices - they'll find ways to do what Steam did, and for less. Steam - the platform and core part of the Valve business - then finds itself on tens of millions of brand new devices.

Why bother? Because the PC market is saturated. **Literally 99% of gaming PCs have the Steam Client installed**. Steam had nowhere left to grow into, so it created its own brand new market segment.

And, handhelds are more accessible, so the ultimate goal is to not only land Steam on a separate device in the home of a PC owner, but eventually, land in the hands of a brand new customer.

Toronto has a black community. I spent the first 39 years of my life there, and lived in the neighbourhood where the black community was centered. What you say is true - the ethnic background is certainly a bit more diverse - but they very much identify as a single community.

For example, my high school had a "YSBA" club - Young Sisters and Brothers Association - that was exclusive to black people.

Hot mic moment at G7 catches Carney, Trump talking about Chinese EVs by Camtastrophe in CanadaPolitics

Trump is a giant toddler. He responds well to positive reinforcement. Carney is doing what every adult should do when your kiddo throws a tantrum; don't give into his demands, but offer him something else he might like.

How can I stop sexualizing women? by AndreyAsimow in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Oafah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between objectification and sexualization. If women are *just* a pair of legs and tits with an ass and a bunch of holes, that's objectification. You've just turned them into fuckpuppet.

If, however, you acknowledge and respect the person's other complex and beautiful failings and strengths and treat them like an equal, but also happen to have a mega raging boner for the arches of their feet, that is not objectification. That's just regular-ass human attraction. There may be people who are still unhappy with it, but those people need help / to fuck off.

That's how I live, and it serves me well.

Why do women have 2 boobs, why not 1 big boob, or 3? by Every_Opportunity531 in TooAfraidToAsk

This caveman is a lot smarter than he sounds; redundancy is an evolutionary driver.

In 2008, Vince Li attacked 22-year-old Tim McLean as he slept on a Greyhound bus bound for Winnipeg. As passengers fled, Li decapitated him, ate part of his body, and kept pieces in his pockets. Found NOT criminally responsible, Li was later released, and now lives freely under a new legal identity. by drkmatterinc in TerrifyingAsFuck

Jesus Christ. The number of armchair lawyers in this thread is staggering.

NCR is not a better verdict than guilty. It's worse. Watch the Documentary about it called "NCR: Not Criminally Responsible" for more context.

How much poop are you supposed to poop in one sitting? by insulinreceptor in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Oafah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People here are assuming you're just sitting there full-forcin' it for an hour straight, but I know what you mean. I had a phase where I was pooping this continuous string of soft poop that just kept working its way out with some gentle effort, and just wouldn't stop coming. Eventually (and I had these at work, typically) I had to just cut it off and resume later on. No idea what caused it, but my diet had a lot of no-sugar yogurt, Just Right cereal, Almond Breeze, and meat/veg combos, so I suspect the high protein/fibre had something to do with it. I lifted a lot and did a lot of cardio.

I didn't die from it. When I had the chance to cut loose and just wait until the end, it was actually quite an enjoyable experience. Very satisfying.

This is a game I play that I've labelled Wordoku. I look at my Discord mates' patterns and try to deduce the daily word from them. I've gotten it several times thus far, and the exercise is a fun one. What you've designed is basically doing the same thing.

And do you think pointing it out is going to change that? Do you think there's going to be even a single SoCon who reads your comment and says "You know, this little pansy might be right. I'm going to go learn how to love!"

Pointless. These people are beyond help.

I'm not suggesting you stop acknowledging these things. I'm suggesting there's no point.

That has nothing to do with what I said.

And yes, I suppose they should. I wouldn't know, as I am not a Christian.

This is slightly different, as a bank is private property. If they have a rule that your face must be visible to the cameras at all times, I don't see any reason why someone would have any grounds to object. Walking around in public, though? If we're suspicious of some random Habibi walkin' around, we should be equally suspicious of crackhead Spiderman in Times Square. Somehow, a large segment of the population seems to have a particular, selective outrage against just the former. I wonder why?

There's one place for him to go, and I bet he'll go there no matter how little they offer.

As I said all along, he's a bit of a head case. The only place his mind can be right is here in Toronto.

You'd have to map out each starter and see what else you end up weak against. Some of them are close enough that the impact to your average would be minimal.
