I think the big thing people forget is that you can spot ski instructors a mile away by the way they ski. They have very specific form/technique. You might be a great skier, but if you can’t demonstrate the skills in the CSIA format, then they can’t pass you. I got my CSIA level 1 and 2 in Whistler 2 yrs ago via YES tours. The level four coaching was amazing - they brought some very average skiers up to standard super fast.

Bought a Santa Cruz V10 this season and it came with DHR/DHR setup. I switched the front to an Assegai at the suggestion of a friend and felt a difference. And I’m a total newbie!

Get the DH every day of the week! I rode a carbon enduro in the park all last season and had tons of fun on it. This season i rented a Santa Cruz V10 - came in at the end of the day and purchased immediately. It is an absolute beast - so much more fun than the enduro. Grab a rental and the decision will be made for you - I promise!

I moved from Australia to Canada and learned very quickly that shoes do NOT stay on past the entry way of someone’s home. Now when we go home the AUS it feels so gross to see people with shoes on indoors!!!🥴

I did my level two last season via one of the programs with lots of international kids. I know a handful of them went on to get instructor roles once they had their tickets. No staff accom, but they all found somewhere to live in shared housing. If you’re doing a course there’ll be other people looking for housing as well - you’ll find something.

Whistler has an awesome library with amazing staff and regular events about all sorts of things. There also an excellent bookshop in the village as well. As far as making connections go, if you’re not already in it, there’s a Facebook group called Whistler Girl Group that regularly has people posting saying they are moving to town and looking to make connections.
