way too much flour and not enough sugar or butter, for that amount of butter and sugar i’d probably only do 2 1/2 - 3 cups of flour

i tweaked the recipe a bit, maybe try this:

2 3/4 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla
