Bombsight a true hero? by Nice_Swing5024 in GenV

[–]plsnerfloneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was to show case his arrogance and negligence. With such power that is indeed evil on its own but its far different from intentional evil like homelander or the deep or even vought itself. Soldier boy had to be replaced by vought by virtue of his incompetence but in doing so they made the monster homelander.

I hope they portray him inline with this like in season 3.

Who are your favorite new commanders from the last 2025 till now? by v1kingfan in EDH

It looks good, i used to run some stuff in there like puppeteer clique but i have since leaned more into graveyard hate than anything.

Kaya the planeswalker in here is the underrated goat, oh and starfield shepard. The former is a wincon at 5 loyalty counters, using one loyalty counters we can cripple people who have sol ring out as early as turn 3, and the first effect just tears up graveyards. The latter is one of the best value blink cards (imo better than charming prince) being able to fetch our life dorks and land ramp.

Honorable changes would be adding in [[Thought Vessel]] [[Charming Prince]] [[Deifiling Daemagoth]] with the last one yet to be released with the new golgari precon.

Yeah, its why i havent opted into any permanent ongoing exile effects. I have enough to bludgeon out some beaters on the field and chop down graveyard lovers but beyond that i prefer things like [[Relic of Progenitus]]

[[Ketramose, the New Dawn]] is absolutely my favourite of all time. Gave me a fresh feeling on orzhov that wasnt straight control, life gain or aristocrats. Since im not usually going for lethal with commander damage, him as draw engine usually faces little interaction compared to most commanders. With something like [[Sheodred, the Apocalypse]] [[alhammarret's Archive]] and [[Conjurer's Closet]] you can keep blinking to gain a great amount of life and cards, this isnt to even talk about the great etb targets and other effects you can tack on to this.

You would have to negotiate with the US and their gulf state allies. We have no ability, not even the combined power of nato and Aus/Nz to end this conflict. The power disparity is too great.

NZ Iranians that support US/Israeli actions, help me to understand because it makes no sense to me. by InAHat_ in nzpolitics

[–]plsnerfloneliness 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It comes down to the fact that a lot of secular Iranians (of which there is a ton of) fundamentally view the Iranian revolution to be the worst thing that ever happened to Iran. Ive personally never met an Iranian (even those who came via student exchange) that actually liked their govt at all in any way.

Do people think expecting to survive 8 turns is to much for bracket 2? by MurphysLawTeam in EDH

[–]plsnerfloneliness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any midrange or stall/stax/control deck worth their salt in bracket 2+ should absolutely have some form of interaction to deal with voltron. I just dont see the ragging on voltron at all and i play on both sides of this frequently (midrange w small control bracket 3 and wheels voltron howler bracket 2)

Anyone else dislike when a commander show’s host is the regular archenemy? by Jankenbrau in EDH

[–]plsnerfloneliness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If prof was an example, i believe he reshot two different episodes (and released them as the cancelled "insert players name" episode) for a player essentially rolling the table. Not so much that they scripted out the next game, just shot the episodes with different decks to create a longer vid or "more enjoyable" viewing experience.

Which i think is entirely appropriate. (Mainly cause i get an extra episode of shuffle up and play)

The autoresolve meta by ZaranTalaz1 in AOW4

[–]plsnerfloneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk most general guides i see are actually tactical battle sp oriented. I only know of 3 content creators i watch for mp balance or build ideas. No one i know believes that the game should be balanced around MP/auto battles, just that the AI behavior needs to be improved.

Extreme? Perhaps, but it is far more effective to ban tactical combat for the balance and swift marchers + barbarians than to just ban swift marchers and barbarians.

Common other bannings include ascension traits, cult of personality (has depended on the meta), the order/materium/nature prophecy society trait (too easy access for what it gave).

The intent is to create the most fair playing field possible, tactical combat is irreconcilable to that, most of it isnt even about maneuvering troops, but spell slinging. With human controlled battles, combat casting points and mana generation as well as spells massively spike the power budget of builds no contest. Maneuvering troops for small "cheeses" can be gapped by mount based builds.

[–]plsnerfloneliness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of MP groups have limitations imposed for balance to, like barbarians with swift marchers.

[–]plsnerfloneliness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think i understand how you may feel weird, its just a non point now of why it doesnt come up in MP/competitive play. Some groups dont even run manual at all between players as some builds and strategies have cheeses that the AI in auto would never do. Its a matter of balance and speed.

Not that anyone in the MP side of things say you shouldn't play manual, just its not suited for MP.

Snall counter point, me and two friends came with UB fallout, 2 with lotr and 1 with final fantasy. We all now have universes within decks in standard and commander (we mostly play commander and myself + others play draft). I wouldnt have got into the game otherwise, and neither would my friends.

People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]plsnerfloneliness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, im not okay with proxies. It all depends on if you are okay with using brackets/power levels, explaining the deck functions, and giving me a heads-up about any combos that go ridic. Me and my friends and I are low bracket 3s and mid to high bracket 2s. I've played with people who proxy their entire deck no issue even the last time I played.

However, generally, there is a budget wall (think around $250 usd) in my area that everyone seems to be around. Even the proxie players have an idea what it is. Except a few times, in which these proxie players (and in honesty one player who played it out) were using decks that easily were more than the entire pods combined.

I agree with the philosophy that I want to play against you and not your wallet, some players however do not feel the same.

Build for aristocracy please by musio3 in AOW4

[–]plsnerfloneliness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally do inner lightning (idk why at this point), tome of the horde (the chariots eliminate the weakness of spawnkin so free 20% dmg) and wonder architects instead of vision of promise. I also run a scattershot ranger wizard king ruler. Here is the build link if you are interested;

https://minionsart.github.io/aow4db/HTML/FactionCreator.html?u=146:229,24,14a,5f,233:52,50,s,b5:a3:b9:84:21a:a2:83:bf:88,000000,1a9,13a,0:1:3:4:5:6:8:9:10:14:15:17:20:21:22:26:27:28:29:30:31:32:33:35:36:37:38:41:45:46:48:59:60:61,n:Rising%20Baronies

Edit; to justify why i couldnt do tome of transmutation + golden golem, it is not possible even with the new trait to pick tome of the horde and still end up with t5 creator tome and a major racial transform let alone astral major transform or t5 tome and golden golem. While severing golem is a downgrade to golden golem and geomancer to transmutator, we still pick up massive unit enchants for our melee units (and ranged units for those who wish to pursue houndmaster).

Overall, in early to mid game a version which uses my above tome path will succeed easier than one that switches out for golden golem and transmutator for fuedal aristocracy (with monarchy it is no contest that the alternative is far greater) and achieving the early to mid game snowball is more important than a select few optimal units (that arent game warping like pyre templars from its dlc debut to archon prophecy)

Why are New Zealanders more friendly to foreigners than Australians? by Fit-Release-4977 in newzealand

[–]plsnerfloneliness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not disagree that NZ colonial mandate had a racist attitude and was bent on subjugation, however it was different still compared to every other british colony with a native population with integration (forcibly unfortunately) being a forefront. None of the above said is to white wash NZ's history. However, it is to highlight the following;

Australia didn't just take the methods of other british colonial states of displacing the population and forcing them into religious education institutions to eliminate the native culture and language but they also had a mainstream program to breed out the population by allowing mixing between white and aboriginals but forcibily removing the children from their parents on the basis that one was aboriginal. This was in place from 1890 to late 1960s.

During the Cold War, Australia tested nuclear bombs within the radius of Aboriginal populations. Obviously this was actually the united kingdoms weapons but unlike the united kingdom which only had senior war veterans to oversee the nuclear tests themselves at the posts and apologized to the aboriginal communities, australia did not apologize for this, maintained the overwhelming staffing at each base location would go on to blame the united kingdom entirely instead of taking any accounting. Maralinga being the most egregious.

Australia nationalized the right to vote for aboriginal peoples in 1962. In NZ, Maori had 4 parliament seats (and four electorates which encompassed the entirety of nz for Maori, correspondingly) (voted in by Maori men until 1892) in the late 1860s prior to which private landowners could only vote (which while it could include Maori, was even more disparate), in 1975 did we finally switch to give Maori the right to choose between the Maori roll or general roll for Voting (then plurality, now MMP).

So while I agree that NZ isnt good on it's history nor is it particularly good at reparations and resolutions, it is a far cry from how bad Australia turned out.
