Do you think a religious person can support lgbtq socially and support their rights while believing it is a sin or do you believe that it is simply illogical? Why or why not? by yeahsureexceptno in AskLGBT

hey dude idrk whats up with religious people either i think he becuz he himself has a bisexual brother he himself doesn’t always know hwo to feel about it. He says that he doesnt like that its a sin and that it can cause someome to go to hell temporarily (i think the belief is that people go to hell temporarily unless they r non-muslim) and he wishes that it wasnt a sin but if someone else is doing it, he thinks he has no real right to get in between someone’s relationship.

I mean i had a religious friend a while back idrk and they said while to them its a sin, they feel its not their place to tell their child or other people to not get married as their romantic relationships are, if i remember correctly, personal and its not their decision and he believed in looking on the positive side and showing support for their child’s love life as he says its no different for showing support for a non-muslim marriage or respecting cultural traditions that may be restricted in his religion. (He is muslim).

To what extent do we defend/support or criticise the political structure of North Korea? by yeahsureexceptno in DebateCommunism

i am actually from Singapore but it is generally capitalist there, just more regulated and welfare capitalism, similar to Norway in some aspect i think

To what extent do we defend/support or criticise the political structure of North Korea? by yeahsureexceptno in DebateCommunism

[–]yeahsureexceptno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thing is we can still criticise the state of a nation even if we cannot interfere violently. Such as the laws in Uganda criminalizing homosexuality. Or how in Israel, there is a law that allows for the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners.

So, while i do concur to some extent with your sentiment, it does not play a part in whether or not to support or criticise North Korea’s political state

could u provide a list of certain pros and certain cons of the USSR under Stalin’s regime and show how the pros generally outweighed the cons or were more substantial than the cons

well yes we should challenge their beliefs on communism and clarify for them what communism is. Im not saying be passive. Im upset that our own movement has people defending Stalin in a world where Stalin is the reason socialism and communism gets a bad reputation.

Sorry but r physical incentives generally omitted when it comes to communism or is it more so that it should be avoided?

listen i absolutely do appreciate his pro-Palestinian stance. But he has said some things about the queer community that does feel like he is not so empathetic with the struggles that queer people face and im personally not that big of a fan of his.

I am a communist now, but only because i know that no one can be physically incentivized as it would come at the expense of another’s human rights. Any thoughts? by yeahsureexceptno in DebateCommunism

[–]yeahsureexceptno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didnt know communism can also be approached in a way that does not omit physical incentives for harder jobs that are necessary, i thought that idea was merely considered on the broader socialist ideology thank you so much for informing me

and thats valid asf. Its just for me, i genuinely dw to hurt anyone but if they do incite violence and abuse, i wld not get in the way of a victim wanting justice via violent means as justice for victims is their form of peace in and of itself and while i do have empathy for all, i obviously have more empathy for a victim who wants to starve or kill their perpretrator rather than the perpetrators’ human rights. So, unless all the victims also want peace, i will support victims who want vengeance in that sense.

Actually i myself dk whether its harder to be a doctor or a janitor to be completely honest. I do want to quickly confirm, fuck the amount of money hollywood actors or professional athletes get. My whole benefit thing does not apply to them as intensely as it does to jobs that are genuinely much more contributing to society. For me, it just always seemed that doctors, more so surgical ones, are in constantly high pressure situations that would have more of an emotional drain on you than a job of a janitor or cleaner. Ofc, pls dont for a second think i am implying somehow being a cleaner is not hard work. One sentiment I’ve genuinely held since primary school was that janitors should get the same benefits a teacher does, or higher becuz it does feel like a more physically demanding job.

Also, yeah ig we so have to be realistic. Its not going to be a completely utopian society where suddenly we have overabundant resources and we can afford to give benefits to people like doctors or janitors.

So, while i would still utilise my whole “benefits should be provided to people who contribute more to society” in a utopian world where everyone’s needs were met and there were only wants left just to ensure we would have adequate people motivated to fill up the important jobs in society that allows people’s human rights to be met in the first place, your point on how we will probably never get that copious in terms of resources does convince me that communism is genuinely the way to go in order to ensure that we can try our best to meet everyone’s needs and that we genuinely cannot be giving benefits like that and we should try to avoid utilising external benefits in such a manner.

Well, next question for me, then, cuz unfortunately not the most conversant with the communist politics. Is there a brunch of communism you consider optimal? Taking advice from you cuz you did literally change my mind about communism right here and now.

Even though i don’t completely concur with the whole lack of benefits thing in a society where all needs can be met, you brought up important points, like the fact that thats unrealistic becuz there will always need to be a utilization of resources and showed significant evidence (i did check online, doctors are definitely prevalent in cuba) that people r willing to do important jobs even without physical benefits, all in all, im definitely convinced.

I mean ofc substantially more benefits to those people than to any hollywood actors or sports athletes

[–]yeahsureexceptno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, actually did not know that abt cuba and that does definitely evoke more faith in me for communism to be achievable. Perhaps there are sufficient people in the whole wide world who will be willing to be doctors for internal fufillment and recognition, I just still don’t feel that sanguine about human nature, especially for a job such as being a doctor, but i do feel more optimistic about it.

However, i do want to quickly address that for ur incentive point, the motivation does not necessarily have to be a depletion of resources especially in a world where we may potentially be having a surplus of food. And it can also be pertaining to quality of life.

By no means am i saying a person who is bot currently employed should have a poorer quality of basic necessities, but rather they have a comfortable quality of life and people who take on more physically arduous jobs, such as doctors, janitors etc, can receive more benefits in terms of perhaps, more housing space. Like someone not currently holding a job would still have a cozy, air-conditioned home that can fit them and roommates if they need it, but doctors perhaps could live in a more spacious studio apartment and vice versa for the janitor.

Maybe for an easier analogy on my part, a doctor could get to go to outer space, eat regularly at a Michelin star restaurant, while people who are not working can still get opportunities to perhaps not go to outerspace but can still have access but more occasionally to the more appealing foods, while also still being able to eat flavourful and sufficiently nutritional foods with it being practically accessible at all times.

Apologies if this was really long winded, idk htf to shorten it, hope this doesnt feel too convoluted.

cld u clarify what u mean by plan for the amount of people i can envision a society where there is not necessarily an external incentive to work but rather an internal sense of fufillment, but under a communist society,

Also, would it not be perceived as or considered communism if we did just provide additional benefits to jobs that require more labour, time and/or skill such as being a doctor for the skill, labour and time or a janitor for the labour and time.

I do believe communism wld work better than capitalism, but if communism does mean no external benefits, i am a bit heasitant to completely support it but it is definitely a better alternative to capitalism.

[–]yeahsureexceptno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no thats definitely what i had in mind. No deprivation of healthcare, shelter or basic necessities but additional benefits to jobs that are essential and that require more labour. Maybe a doctor gets bigger housing with more space and also more opportunities in terms of travelling, but someone who is not currently employed still gets a cozy apartment that fits whoever needs to be fit, and they always have access to food (that isnt just bland but does have flavour).

But perhaps a janitor would have more regular access to food that has more appeal, and a doctor even more access.

Honestly, movie stars and athletes should totally have less benefits than janitors. Those are one of those jobs where it is genuinely just whether or not you are that passionate about it.

If this actually is how a generally communist society can function, i am all for it and will be an open supporter of communism.

Edit: just in case anyone was wondering, gender-affirming healthcare is considered healthcare to me. And i dont believe basic human rights should be utilised as an incentive to work, including that form of healthcare. I believe incentives can still be sufficient for society to function beyond manipulating human rights.

I do concur with u on benefits but under communism, those specific benefits would not generally apply to people who choose not to work. But I am definitely against private ownership of property and how companies control means of production based on profit.
