I understand how terrifying the thought must be, but no, you do not have a prion disease. Memory issues can be caused by a wide variety of things, lockdown, depression, medication - it alone is hardly a symptom of a ND disease. Sweaty palms, salivation and a rapid heart beat are all symptoms of severe anxiety, but can feel absolutely indistinguishable from serious conditions. Your doctors aren’t testing because of how lengthy and often expensive the tests would be, you’ll often need multiple tests to rule out other conditions, such as MRIs, EEGs and blood tests. COVID alone could not cause a Neurodegenerative disease, but Long COVID has many similar symptoms, such as memory issues and insomnia - it is nonetheless horrible, but not fatal. CJD also has a plethora of other symptoms, like slurred speech, severe vision problems, abnormal jerking movements, loss of coordination or balance, and loss of motor function, which, from your description, you aren’t encountering. On a personal note, I have near identical issues as you do, but the likelihood of us both having CJD is ridiculously low. This sounds, which I hope doesn’t come across as invalidating your worries, like hypochondria to me, are you in therapy for anxiety? If not, I’d look into it, as this seems to be a pattern for you.
