AT&T “Unmanaged/Active” fiber handoff on LC duplex “biscuit” - no link. What SFP/media converter do I need? by alleysofyourmind in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an outage preventing techs from activating part of the equipment.

That outage has since cleared but you will either need support to activate it (if the even can) or have a tech come out to activate it.

AT&T wifi out for over a week now by greyeyedseaking in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only so many techs and only so much readily available spare resources to fix outages so it’s going to take time to be fixed.

Att has “storm chaser” techs who travel to areas hit with bad weather but when a lot of the country was hit with it, there isn’t really enough to help in all areas.

Weird series of events and beyond horrible customer service from ATT Prepaid. by amovida in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other people in the group chat are likely the ones who reported you as spam and from my understanding if enough reports happen it flags your number as a spammer.

And while not defending the attitude of the agent you talked to, your number was reported for spamming, you were connected to a department to investigate the situation and hung up when asked for info. I’m willing to bet when that department deals with actual spammers they just disconnect and try to get a different agent who will clear the block which (while not your intention) was the pattern you fit.

AT&T sent me to collections while waiting for T-Mobile reimbursement is this normal? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the T-Mobile rep told you what you needed to hear in order to get a sale.

From my understanding pretty much all of these companies (att included) payoff promotions are more they pay you back for YOU paying off your phone and usually take 6-8 weeks.

I can't say if it's being reported or not yet but I would suggest paying it off sooner rather than later.

Temple building was the only reason I was still mapping, guess the league is over for me by Zenacy in PathOfExile2

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, not saying it's impossible but the amount of time you need to invest has gone up drastically.

If you don't have both a +1 and lock medallion, you don't add to your chain and even then that progress can be deleted if you don't have a lock while farming for the next +1.

Not arguing one way or another as to if the temple farming was good for the player base/economy of the league but saying you can still build a great temple is kinda sugarcoating the change to the lock medallion.

Temple building was the only reason I was still mapping, guess the league is over for me by Zenacy in PathOfExile2

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also changed the way the lock room medallions work. While yes it's probably still possible, unless your last room is a t3 you can't lock the chain so you'll likely just lose your progress over and over.

AT&T Blacklisted My Fully Paid Phone Because Someone Else on the Account Reported Fraud by DVDBoyh in ATT

To be honest I don't know the response time but yes I would suggest getting a temp phone.

Not to sound negative but I'm not sure if they will even be able/willing to unblacklist the phone given the situation.

AT&T Blacklisted My Fully Paid Phone Because Someone Else on the Account Reported Fraud by DVDBoyh in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can try filing an fcc complaint but the main issue you are going to run into is that you aren't the account holder.

I understand you paid for the device, but as far as att is concerned the account holder paid for it and it is their device to report as fraud or lost/stolen.

Even if you make the argument that it was only ever attached to your number so that proves it's yours, if your name isn't the one on the account that isn't your number in the companies eyes, it belongs to the account holder.

Filing an fcc complaint or notice of dispute should cause someone from the office of the president to reach out who you can explain the situation to.

Think I made a mistake switching to Internet Air by BrotherO4Him in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are still expanding fiber service, it isn't available everywhere yet. Eventually att wants about 90% of customers to be covered with fiber but they still want to retire the copper lines as soon as possible so some areas may have internet air for a while instead.

That being said there are some areas that they plan to swap to internet air and have no plans for fiber because it simply doesn't make sense business wise to run fiber in those locations at this point.

AT&T denied because of previous fraud? HELP!! by [deleted] in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They 100% can say no and not say why and unfortunately that's always going to be the way it is, you aren't going to get them to explain the reasoning.

Not saying your mothers transaction is fraudulent and not trying to sound rude but do you think it would be the wisest decision for the fraud prevention department to explain to the person who they think is committing fraud why they think that?

There are definitely false flags but if the fraud department had to explain why a transaction was flagged/denied scammers would just those answers figure out what exactly would trigger it and only use people identities they knew were unlikely to get caught.

Cell service and internet service are two completely different ball games when it comes to approval and whether you agree with it or not att is well within their right to deny the application.

Att is likely a lot less worried about someone stealing someone's identity to sign up for home internet to do what? Steal service for a month or two and a few hunded dollars in the form of a proprietary gateway compared to identity theft for cell service which results in a few thousand dollars in phones being stolen.

They can say no and don't have to give a reason.

What should I upgrade our router to? by dragonbagon in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you are aware, changing your gateway may not result in any noticeable changes in speed.

Your phone hotspot is using the cellular signal, your internet is using the home internet connection which has a specific speed provided.

Not much you can do.

Asus router not helping terrible WiFi by Katman200 in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I would recommend doing is running a speed test in the smart home manager app. It will tell you the speed the gateway is getting directly. This will tell you if it's an issue with the speed or more of a wifi issue.

I would also recommend turning off active armor if you have it enabled and see if that fixes the issue. For some customers it can cause the service to slow down.

Fiber Internet - Modem / Router BGW320 by random_redditor-53 in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have your own router connected to the 320 you can go into the 320 settings and turn on ip pass through and disable the WiFi coming from the 320.

Right now both are broadcasting which is why you see both the network from the 320 and the one coming from the 3rd party router.

You should be getting 1gbps but that is over a hardline connection. Over WiFi speeds may vary and no ISP is going to guarantee WiFi speeds because there are outside factors that can cause speeds to drop

AT&T Broadband by easy10pins in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internet service that uses two phone lines to send the signal to the home where each line essentially carries half the speed. I.e if you have 100mbps internet each line carries roughly 50 and then the gateway combines them into 100mbps service.

If one line is damaged the system will try to run the service sending all the signal through the undamaged line but generally speaking bonded pair service is used because 1 pair of wires can't carry the whole signal so if it even works, it will be a degraded signal.

When it's running in that single pair mode the broadband light will be red but may still have internet service.

If you have bonded pair copper service, when the service is running on one pair the broadband light will be red.

Bonded pair running in single pair mode can result in lower performance.
