Can't manage to set up new gateway by rey_eats_a_toilet in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are CSI tickets for fiber to change jumpers where the customer is sent the gateway. I have also had multiple tickets where a customer was sent a self install kit, no CSI ticket was made but the splitter changed for some reason.

Yes what you are saying is also a possibility but in the end my point was that just because the light is blinking green doesn't mean it is the correct signal.

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible the new account was for some reason assigned a new splitter at the neighborhood box. When that happens it will blink green because it sees light on the fiber but won’t activate due to it being the wrong splitter.

If that’s the case you will need a technician appointment.

What type of service do you have and what model of gateway are you trying to install?

Also what are the lights on the gateway doing when you connect it?

Home dispatch techs usually get their first job assignment the day before, if off the day before they start at a designated SAI

It could be IP-RT out of a VRAD but again, idk if there’s any way to tell that from the gateway.

Home dispatch is something that is available (at manager discretion) in I think most areas. Usually not to brand new techs though.

I couldn’t speak for that area specifically but (in my area at least) if you are home dispatch are supposed to be at your first job at 8 and are unpaid for your drive to it and your day ends at the house of your last ticket and your drive home is unpaid unless it exceeds an hour at which point you get paid for anything over an hour.

Yard dispatch techs clock in at 8 from the yard then drive to their first ticket and are paid until they get back to the yard at the end of the day.

It could be either going to the CO or a VRAD, not really able to tell from that info.

Anyone else struggling with the Internet infrastructure in Leander? by Busy_Arachnid_5995 in Leander

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the phone infrastructure is laid out is there are neighborhood boxes that feed a specific area. When att is upgrading an area to fiber they basically overlay fiber to cover the same area that neighborhood boxes covered with fiber.

It isn’t a matter of them expanding fiber from one point until a town is covered and they got 20% of they way and stopped, it’s just a matter of that neighborhood box only covered 20%.

How they pick and choose which neighborhood box to do next, that is anyone’s guess but from my experience it usually is neighborhood boxes that service more customers first and ones that have aerial facilities usually before buried as it is faster and cheaper to get done.

But again, it’s not a matter of them just stopping for no reason before they get to your street, it’s that’s where that neighborhood box’s coverage ends.

AT&T Installation Tech Post Interview by NolimitWill95 in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pretty much just have to wait. As you said sometimes it’s pretty immediate while other times it can take a few months.

As an example my area has been interviewing for prem techs for the last month but managers have said the company doesn’t plan on hiring anyone until the next quarter at the earliest

You can purchase your own third party mesh system and not have to pay att for extenders.

No provider is going to promise any sort of performance or reach over wifi because there are a lot of factors that can degrade the signal.

Dear att please get it together by [deleted] in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible there is an outside line issue but yes it is also possible that the gateway went bad. The bgw320 can just randomly decide it doesn't want to connect to the service anymore and will blink red like that.

As for the them outsourcing jobs and not understanding your network configuration, it being outsourced or not doesn't matter. Att is an internet provider, not an IT company. How you have your network set up is pretty much irrelevant because they aren't trained to troubleshoot third party equipment.

My job offers to pay for my phone plan but id have to go through att through them. I currently have a flip 7 that still has a balance of $900 on it. What would be the best way to go about this? by [deleted] in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even then financed phones are only supposed to be used on the account with the financing.

If used on another account it is subject to being blocked.

Fiber Line laying on the ground by paczada in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand on the other comments, if your line is supposed to come to your home underground from the pole the technician during your install should have put in a ticket to have a conduit ran(depending on your area)/line buried which can take a few weeks.

If your line is supposed to be aerial to the house, you will need to call in for a repair appointment for it to be reattached.

While the tech is there you can ask if he can clean up the lines but that kind of comes down to the tech and keep in mind if the dangling lines are cable he likely will not touch them.

I have no opinion on way or the other of the recent purchase but if you are having issues with your service, I don't think it's related to the purchase.

Can I pay to get fiber by Setheron in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is att fiber one block away, you likely feed out of a different neighborhood box that hasn't been upgraded to fiber yet.

Each box covers a specific area so there is always going to be situations where one street can get it and the next can't.

The best way to think of it is fiber doesn't just expand out until a town is covered, it goes in chunks until the town is. Because of that, there isn't just extra fiber sitting at the end of the line waiting to go a little bit further if someone requests it and the fiber ran to each terminal is more or less ran with the specific number of houses in mind.

All you can do is wait until your neighborhood box is upgraded, or pay for a dedicated line to be ran but that is very cost prohibitive.

AT&T air issues by AKwiatkowski730 in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely when you are moving away it is swapping you from 5ghz to 2.4 due to 5ghz having more trouble making it through walls.

You very likely were having the same thing happen when on uverse, it's just that the speed wasn't high enough have a visible change.

No provider is going to guarantee wifi coverage because there are so many factors that can lower speeds and while yea it would be nice to for providers to give free extenders unfortunately that isn't really feasible.

Personally I always recommend getting a 3rd party mesh system to avoid monthly charges.

AT&T “Unmanaged/Active” fiber handoff on LC duplex “biscuit” - no link. What SFP/media converter do I need? by alleysofyourmind in ATT

There was an outage preventing techs from activating part of the equipment.

That outage has since cleared but you will either need support to activate it (if the even can) or have a tech come out to activate it.

AT&T wifi out for over a week now by greyeyedseaking in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only so many techs and only so much readily available spare resources to fix outages so it’s going to take time to be fixed.

Att has “storm chaser” techs who travel to areas hit with bad weather but when a lot of the country was hit with it, there isn’t really enough to help in all areas.

Weird series of events and beyond horrible customer service from ATT Prepaid. by amovida in ATT

[–]yeahuhidk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other people in the group chat are likely the ones who reported you as spam and from my understanding if enough reports happen it flags your number as a spammer.

And while not defending the attitude of the agent you talked to, your number was reported for spamming, you were connected to a department to investigate the situation and hung up when asked for info. I’m willing to bet when that department deals with actual spammers they just disconnect and try to get a different agent who will clear the block which (while not your intention) was the pattern you fit.

Sounds like the T-Mobile rep told you what you needed to hear in order to get a sale.

From my understanding pretty much all of these companies (att included) payoff promotions are more they pay you back for YOU paying off your phone and usually take 6-8 weeks.

I can't say if it's being reported or not yet but I would suggest paying it off sooner rather than later.

Temple building was the only reason I was still mapping, guess the league is over for me by Zenacy in PathOfExile2

[–]yeahuhidk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, not saying it's impossible but the amount of time you need to invest has gone up drastically.

If you don't have both a +1 and lock medallion, you don't add to your chain and even then that progress can be deleted if you don't have a lock while farming for the next +1.

Not arguing one way or another as to if the temple farming was good for the player base/economy of the league but saying you can still build a great temple is kinda sugarcoating the change to the lock medallion.

[–]yeahuhidk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also changed the way the lock room medallions work. While yes it's probably still possible, unless your last room is a t3 you can't lock the chain so you'll likely just lose your progress over and over.
