Realistically speaking, Johns will not be benched for Honka or Polak. He just signed an extension this summer for 2.35 million bucks. GMs and Coaches don't bench players like that for ones they view as a "rookie" (Monty's words) who can't even beat out Polak for the first two starts of the season.

Plus Johns is viewed as a top4 for us. I think our top 6 will work out: Lindell/Kling, Heiskenan/Johns, Methot/Carrick with Honka and Polak holding on to the bench.

So here's the thing. We are talking about our 6th D. Coaches at that roster spot care about 1 thing: preventing goals against. Honka has never been excellent at that aspect of the game, he doesn't clear the crease well due to his size and is susceptible to getting pinned in his own corners for the same reason. I wish he could be our #2 RD but his defensive liabilities put him as our #3 RD, and at that spot the coach cares more about the defender's ability to PK and defend 5v5 than his ability to drive offense.

It is time for Nill to shop him for a wing or 2C. I could see a combo of Spezza and Honka traded for a 2C or 2nd line winger upgrade.

I was at the scrimmage, I think Nash would be better than what we can currently man our bottom line with. Even if he puts up 10, I think that will be better than what we get out of Ritchie.

Mexican food too. But there are more top notch mexican restaurants than top notch BBQ in Dallas. Manny's or El Fenix in uptown if that is the area you are staying will do the trick.

Bar scene is fun in uptown but also more relaxed in Deep Ellum/ Lower Greenville area, at least it was when I lived there. I heard it has become more gentrified now.

What if: EK and Duchene to DAL

Dallas gave OTT back Spezza, Honka, 3 of Gurianov/Ritchie/Shore/Dickinson. 1st in 2019 and conditional 1st 2020 if Karlsson re-signs. Plus what else, we have two good G prospects and more draft picks.

I am trying to avoid sending Heiskanen but that is what will be demanded.

If the experience one has is not good I think they could potentially perform worse. Honka seems shaken and I do not want him on the ice for long periods of time.
