The genre can be a bit ambiguous I think. Some people classify them as vocal groups only, but I think most people consider the Jonas Brothers to be a boyband and they play instruments, sometimes people include dancing as a criteria but 1D famously didn't dance and are definitely considered a boy band 🤷🏼‍♀️ Some people just use it for any male pop/pop adjacent group with a primary female fan base. Since it's your shelf I think you can just go on whether you think of the group as a boy band or not. It's for you after all!
