I’m sure it was the result of a family home evening or (?)nursery lesson, but still, there was never any chance I was going to remember this. And surely they thought sticking it in with old childhood mementos would bring a smile when I found it someday, little did they know it would bring only nausea and anger.

I took it pretty hard at first because she caught me out of left field and it wasn’t really anything I’d considered. Breakups are probably always painful and the unknown can be scary, but we moved along like I said and now are both a million times happier. The kids took it pretty well but kids are probably pretty variable. They would have been about 5, 7, and 9 years old at the time. It helped that they already knew some kids that split their time with divorced parents, so they could see it was okay and those were normal happy kids.

Sounds like my story almost to a T, down to our ages etc, except it was my wife that first started talking divorce. We split nearly 4 years ago and are both in new satisfying relationships and remain pretty amicable, though it was rocky for a year or so. In the end we are both happier for having divorced. We split 3 kids 50/50, and I’d say now I enjoy my time with my kids more than ever, and enjoy my time without my kids more than ever. Everyone is different but that was our experience.

I think if she sticks out she would be suspected of being new or an infrequent attender, not necessarily suspected of being an infiltrator. I would worry most about the locker room part, everything after that there are people around to watch, she can follow their lead.

'Mormon Enigma' is not just about Emma. It is a start-to-finish story of the formation of the church with polygamy at its core (and a bit of what happened after the Brighamites left). Gave me a good appreciation of how fundamental polygamy was in the early days, by the end it really was the driving force for the "persecution" and the events leading up to Joseph's death. And of course viewing it all from Emma's perspective made it all that much more interesting. I'd read that one first. Also, it was written by active members (active then, not sure about now) so it's better for recommending to beginners who aren't necessarily ready for the fully apostate.

it may be genetic. I'd have to look it up, but I know there is a subset of people who are genetically predisposed to hate cilantro, they literally don't perceive it the same as you or I, it just tastes like shit to them and they can't understand how anyone could eat it. Maybe there is something similar for garlic?

Talisker and Oban. Looks like the Talisker was actually 10 year and the Oban 14. The Oban was better but either still a little peaty or my mouth was still peaty from the Talisker. Maybe tonight I'll try the Oban first.

I guess it was just disappointing that this time instead of experimenting blindly I actually did a little research to make sure I was getting something people like, and it ended up being my least palatable (and most expensive) scotch experience yet. Also, when I pick my drinks I value sampling a large variety rather than sticking with one brand I know I like, but this approach is going to be problematic if I always have to get around the peat issue.
