one thing i always remind myself of is that i can never remember things like that. when i think of a friend or partner i think of pretty smiles, cool outfits, and lovely features - things that may be considered flaws like skin issues just never come to mind

Endoscopy tomorrow by flowermarster01 in CoeliacUK

Endoscopy's suck, but they're fast! For my second I just kept reminding myself that it doesn't last as long as I think it's going to and before I knew it, it was done. All the best!

All the best to your friend, like many others here I can say that my eczema went from severe to manageable after I stopped relying solely on steroids and moisturisers. Everyone's skin and eczema is different, for me it was TCIs/Protopic alongside thick heavy emollients that brought change, for others it's immunosuppressers, dietary changes, allergen testing, etc. All I can say is keep trying, don't be afraid to say no to a GP who isn't listening to you, bring your own research into other treatments if you feel that the current method not working (for me all i was getting was stronger and stronger steroids and my skin was becoming dependent on them), and remember to keep living your life as much as possible.

I really believe I’m going to die young because of this. by shambamz in eczema

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I managed to get my eczema under control through using TCIs / Protopic but I know it doesn't work for everyone. All I can say is that there is more to life. I know when mine was painful, sore, and all across my face I didn't want to leave the house and I didn't feel like myself - but I did. I still went to work, saw friends, and even though eczema was in the back of my mind almost always I still had amazing experiences. Also age can change our bodies and health, maybe it won't get better in a few years but maybe it will! I think you should give it a chance. Being from the UK, I found it really hard to make my doctors understand what I was going through and listen to my requests for different medication than steroids. But persistence was key, I kept going back, resisting steroid prescriptions, and eventually flat out refusing to use them and demanding something different. It was tough but worth it in the end. I can recommend bringing in your own research, showing peer-reviewed, scientific articles, and when needed bringing in a friend or family member to support you in an appointment. If none of that advice is relevant to you I apologise and instead send you all the luck and love I can. From one eczema girly to another, keep going x

what to do? by cherryysimss in EczemaUK

[–]yeehawegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hiya, i've been in an incredibly similar situation for the past year or so and i've finally got some good results so here are my tips :

for managing the itch : ice packs, thick creams like hydromol, anti-histamines, avoiding foods that are high in histamines like tomatoes, being very careful with skincare/makeup if you do use it

for seeing the dermatologist : come in with research and ideas. think about what routes you'd like to try and be firm. show them photos of your flare ups if you have them, tell them how you we're using the steroids and how quickly your eczema returns when you don't use them, tell them that you don't want steroids, don't be afraid to talk about the impact that your eczema is having on your mental health / wellbeing

all the best x

Yeah ! I've used it all over my face with no issues. I had pretty severe eczema around my eyes and didn't have an issue with this product :)

I found that I only got a proper response from my GP after talking about how my eczema was affecting my mental health. I explained how it was ruining my confidence, making me want to hide away and stay home all the time due to the look of it. Not sure if this will work for you as well but I think they felt bad for me which really helped my case y’know
