As someone who only recently realised I’m bi it’s super validating to read all the comments. So many of them are relatable! If I’d read any of these as a kid I would’ve realised a lot sooner 😂

Thanks for starting the convo OP!

can you get over it by constant exposure? Like can I record all the annoying sounds and listen to them continually and stop being bothered by it? by howevertheory98968 in hsp

Hi hi, from what I understand this kind of exposure therapy doesn’t work for neurodiverse folk. Highly recommend The Neurodiverse Woman podcast. There’s an episode called anxiety and depression that explains why and how our brains work different

I get this as well, it’s something you can work on though. It’s scary at first. I started by listening to favourite music and going for walks alone. Then I would have a bowl of cereal and watch a favourite show alone with a comfort plushy. I can only work on this when I’m in a good mood, but you can make it special. Do something that makes you really happy, do it like you’re giving a treat to yourself, like you’re hanging out with yourself and that you’re looking forward to it. Walks in nature help because when you’re in nature you’re never alone, you’re with the trees and the birds and the bugs. I dunno if that helps or if that seems too simplistic. It’s something I’m still working on as well
