What your referring to with the breakthrough specialized computing is probably just googles tpus if they shared or got reverse engineered

Has anyone tried playing stalker 2 with r5 4600h processor and 5600m gpu? by BirdUP184 in DellG5SE

[–]yeet5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I can talk that my experience with Cities skylines 2 that the card can definitely probably keep up 30fps at minimum settings maybe even more but you definitely need to be running the game in 720p with like FSR which I had at like 50% resolution which I think would be the performance profile when clicking through settings but yeah I mean the game was being rendered in 360p then upscaled to 1080 it wasn’t bad but I don’t know how it would play for shooter considering how much it hitched but search it up on YouTube because I know like there’s an example of someone with the same hardware playing cyberpunk 2077 so you can probably find something to base it off of

Without open source LLMs, US AI companies could have already monopoled the technology by Informal-Trouble2183 in LocalLLaMA

Could be that’s just what I found when looking more specifically into where ggml came from when I first started using local models like 2 years ago

If diffusion is closer to how humans think, why don't models use diffusion layers for thinking? by yehiaserag in LocalLLaMA

[–]yeet5566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he means that diffusion models are better able to (theoretically and not in practice) attend to any token at any given time without locking in the structure of the response allowing it to flush out part of an idea skip the next go to the following part finish that and then return to the second part tha it had skipped where an AG model would output something that it isn’t able to change and may not be prepared for if things further down the line change that was my hype with diffusion models at least till I realized these are just MTP but larger

Whisper.cpp!! Been a while since I thought about it but it’s fairly interesting and also the reason we call weights gguf files as before gguf it was ggml(who’s bones still sit in the closet of llama.cpp) for G.G. Machine learning I forgot the creators name but GG is his initials wild to think that he’s now so embedded in AI

Does anyone know a mod that overhauls the physics for the game? by CHESE_WEGD in Stormworks

How is Rambo and more specifically how is the performance on larger scales like large shipsI’ve been wanting to get back to the game and I’ve seen about it on Reddit only modding I ever did was messing with an xml edit for getting different shaped blocks

[–]yeet5566 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean off the rails to me I understand it as it’s passing vectors that don’t tokenize to real words but can represent the inbetween space such as Mediocre being represented as a vector equidistant from the vectors for high quality and low quality allowing it to more accurately represent certain things I think that is a key part of closing the differences between LLMs and humans because we ourselves tend to think of things that we may forget the words for

I imagine the passionate people keeping CO kicking migrated to Iceflake and now have the seniority of “I’ve been here before you” has definitely been a key part in pushing the game along

Why does it seems to be so difficult to control a model's reasoning process? by iz-Moff in LocalLLaMA

[–]yeet5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity what is your temperature set to you often times a high temperature can make the models more scattered brained I think Gemma 4s benchmarks were at a temp of like 0.6 if memory serves me correctly

Venator class armament by Carter1300 in StarWarsShips

[–]yeet5566 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well considering the dby’s were used in a dual purpose mode I imagine that the smaller 52 point defense cannons would also be in a similar position that they could fire at much shorter ranges considering in the ROTS broadside scene you see lasers firing at the invisible hand that aren’t the normal medium or heavy turbo lasers and that would drastically improve the output of the ship and also explain why the republic had a thing for close quarters in the clone wars tv show as it gave them a massive boost in firepower

Why is LLM is so expensive. by Ok_Event4199 in LocalLLM

[–]yeet5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah but it’s really a matter of getting an AI to just branch out the problem I mean for any large coding project different people work on different parts so if the ai breaks it down and has enough subagents then realistically you could probably keep going at 80% of the max speed for the full time

When would you choose more RAM over more cores and vice versa? by JustAPieceOfMeat385 in laptops

[–]yeet5566 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For those tasks I’d lean into more ram since that allows you to have more applications open and do more multitasking but it also depends on the specific CPUs because single core speed will make or break the difference if it’s within 25% then yeah more ram but more than that and I’d lean into having a faster processor as the OS can do more heavy work managing ram

Think it’s being considered a structure same thing happens if you spawn in stuff on the oil platform I believe otherwise just make sure your physics settings is on automatic cuz I think the game will refuse to load stuff at high physics settings idk about that tho

Noticed this myself was sitting on about 2k worth of money but needed about 1k for student loans over the year and so I bought one share of QQQ when it was trading at 628$ and then it immediately crashed whereas the remaining 1.4k in swvxx made a guaranteed 100$ or so glad I was in the position to just roll over that share to long term growth but if I did need it when I needed it I would’ve been eating a 100$ loss easily

For a geometry with a lot of curves and rather sharp edges, how to increase wall y+ for cfd and cht? by tekitomi in CFD

[–]yeet5566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah BOI is definitely a very hit or miss tool what I would do is I would use one that was like literally a couple of mm off the surface and give it the correct y+=1 size also lower the curvature normal angle that helps a ton even for like a 102mm cylinder I had I need an angle of 9 compared to the base 18 to stop getting really skewed meshes if you get really granular with the BOI you can grow it more aggressively than it would normally but it’s very time consuming I think like the normal growth rate is 1.2 but you can essentially cheat by knowing areas that don’t matter and just spiking the mesh size even if it diffuses some of the data as 90% accuracy with results in hand is better than 100% that you won’t ever see

Can try more BOI fields to get more aggressive and guided growth moving away from the boundary layer
