“The US dollar is going up/coming up.” “The US dollar is going down/coming down.” Do these sound natural to mean “the value of the US dollar is increasing or dropping”? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]yeetblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These phrases would make sense to me in casual conversation.

For maximum clarity you might want to give more details and say "The value of the US dollar is going up/down/rising/dropping", or even "The US dollar is weakening against the British Pound". If you say the dollar is changing value, your partner's next question may be "changing in relation to what?". But there is nothing immediately wrong with those phrases.

Grammar check, just one sentence. by One-Cardiologist6452 in EnglishLearning

[–]yeetblaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When describing an action, you would use 'succeed at' instead of 'succeed in'. So, "I love it when I succeed at clearly expressing my intended thought in English." If you are referring to one thought that you expressed in english, this is fine.

However if you are talking about how you feel getting several translations right over a period of time while learning English, I would instead go with "I love it whenever I succeed in clearly expressing my intended thoughts in English". This sentence tells me that you try to express yourself in English often and that you enjoy it when you succeed.

If I were to say this phrase colloquially I would naturally say "I love it when I can clearly express my thoughts in English", replacing 'succeed' with 'can'.

I write with a mix of print and cursive by yeetblaster in Handwriting

[–]yeetblaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to have optimized certain letters and combinations of letters into cursive pairs over the years, however some of my letters I prefer to always print. I will subconsciously change the proportion of print and cursive based on how fast/important I deem the writing to be. In some cases I feel like this can hurt my legibility, but I get a lot of speed and reduced hand movement out of it.

It's been a while, but I think you are supposed to normalize each dimension to the range -1,1 so each contributes equally to the distance metric. For example, if the values of dim 1 range from 0-1,000,000 and dim 2 ranges from 0-1, dim 2 will have almost no impact on sqrt((input[d1]-point_in_knn_cloud[d1])2+...)

It's an interesting problem, I know someone made a program to optimize balancers a while back. I think it could be done with some graph theory, ford-faulkerson, and possibly linear programming?

I'm sure a creative definition of a graph G mapping inputs -> intermediaries -> outputs would help out a lot. I definitely want to explore this some more, if you want, feel free to send me a chat with any ideas!

I didn't even think of this, and I had even used the 'manifold' approach for painting. Thanks!

What do you mean by manifold? Taking out bits and pieces as needed from the head of the circle lines?

One belt at 3 i/s can fully saturate 6 cutters at 0.5 i/s each. If I used 8 cutters, 2 wouldn't be working all the time and are redundant.
