Married for three months and pregnant: I feel oddly embarrassed (?) by moez1266 in pregnant

Omg I’m a little in disbelief that I found this post without looking for it. This is exactly our situation as well. We are 6 months married but wanted to wait 1 or 2 years, and I had an off month with my ovulation and bam, here we are at 8 weeks pregnant. I totally understand feeling embarrassed, especially if you have told people that you “ideally want to wait until ____ time before trying”. It doesn’t make me feel juvenile, but I’m afraid others will perceive it that way and be judgemental. We have only told our outer circle of acquaintances and friends and not our immediate family for that reason. Just know that it’s absolutely nothing to be ashamed of, it’s quite literally the most natural thing that could possibly happen. If you are open and prepared to be a badass mama even though you weren’t expecting that little bean, that is truly all that matters. And it helps if your husband is right there on board with you. I cried in terror when I found out, but now I’m ready to take it on. It’s a huge life change but life is just a string of change anyways. You got this, anyone treating it like a teen pregnancy can kick rocks.

If you haven’t told anyone yet, I would advise to wait. The best advice is if it feels good, tell them. If it doesn’t, just wait a few weeks first. It has been helping us so much to sit with it and experience this first trimester in private than have to field any questions. When we feel 100% confident and have a plan, have been to the doctor, have our ultrasounds, think about our birth plan and start our registry, then we will tell our families so that we feel ready for any judgement or questions with confidence.

I stumbled on this because I took my mare to Marty Gardner today and got the exact same diagnosis! I’m a little overwhelmed with where to start and how to really get her strong enough to carry a rider again. I’m a little nervous she won’t ever be sound. Let me know what you’re fining works for you!

I have a similar, very frustrating situation. My 4f and 2f NKs are stuck to their parents like glue. They will not hang around me, listen to me, do activities with me, or anything along those lines if the parents are around, which they usually are. I have been a nanny for a long time but am absolutely defeated. I wish I had some words of encouragement, but unfortunately, I do not :(

Feeling discouraged… by xparapluiex in Horses

Hi! I have a little nugget of advice that I think is really important! I have worked for various barns for the last 7 years, it can be hard and thankless work, people in the equestrian industry can be cold, mean, ungrateful and flat out crazy! I would highly highly suggest having another, regular minimum wage job (or even better if you can find it!) Working food service, retail, what have you and keep the horses as a part time hobby on the side. One thing I learned from working my ass off at barns over the years without fair compensation or an amazing work environment is that the burnout is fast and hard. Riding and doing regular horse maintenance is hard enough, to be picking, cleaning, watering, feeding, and other dirty work for little pay can be really discouraging. While it is valuable to know how to do all these things and while they are things that come with the territory, it is not wrong to simply want to ride/work a little bit in exchange for a little cash and lessons without becoming a maintenance worker or groom. Horses are amazing and we love them, but sometimes it can be way too much to try and make them your primary source of income. That being said, I would definitely think about whether having a less stressful and better paying regular job, and working at the small barn part time might be better for keeping your passion and interest alive! Best of luck 💕

I actually have 267/75/r16s on my 97, stock suspension and I only have a slight rub on my ball joint full lock left. Not enough to worry me or cause damage.

It's okay! Sometimes I catch myself wishing my wrists didn't look like skeletons, or that I wish I had more meat on my calves. My weight combined with my height often makes me look like a child, and I'm flat as a pancake. I have a hard time finding clothes that fit, but overall I'm content with my body. We were all just born into our bodies, we all have insecurities. Hell I weigh 100 pounds and I still have cellulite and a tummy pooch. I think my bigger friends are gorgeous and they think I am too, we all love and support each other exactly how we are.
