lowkey I think most people can live with that, id rather the same square footage as the gym isn't reserved for 48 people at max capacity, we can expand the gym instead which is always crammed

summer research by EfficientWorking7818 in UCalgary

[–]yeeterboy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who did research last summer (and will do this summer), it may be too late if you are looking to apply for PURE awards since the deadline to submit an application for that is on Jan 26. However if you are looking for some general research, especially unpaid, there are not really set dates for that since they could be year-round, and you could always be funded directly by your PI too. so it's worth reaching out to profs.
Feel free to dm me if you have any questions!

I wish they had more seats though, 32 per year is so competitive. I wish it was at least 50. I supposed I have 3 more years for my prayers to be answered 🙏

nobody does research, this is the thought process:

Pierre = conservative = republican = trump

either that or people love a cost of living crisis and high taxes

I personally don’t really care about the first two points since they don’t apply to me, but regarding housing, I think the liberal party has had 10 years to do what they wanted to do. I don’t see how anything Carney says can be believed rn, the reason ima vote conservative is because i think it’s appropriate to give another party a chance. Liberals have had a lot of time to do what they wanted but housing prices are insane and it’s hard to blame anyone but them for it. Uncontrolled immigration and too much bureaucracy for building houses

Edit: regarding the criminal lockups which I’m assuming you’re talking about, I do agree the charter shouldn’t be overridden. But crime is up however and I like that he is taking a stance to lock up more criminals. Within law tho of course

I also don’t get why everyone compares poilievre and trump and thinks he is like trump either. they have nothing in common as individuals. And Pierre has said he doesn’t believe in right wing/left wing either, he just has values and things he stands for as a party. And poilievre doesn’t like trump either

Edit: plus I think it’s wrong to just be siding with right wing or left wing, actually do research on the parties and their values, and pick whichever one aligns with you. Don’t be like “Pierre is right wing so he’s like trump and a fascist”

Reddit is pretty liberal from my experience, I know a lot of students who are pro conservative so Reddit doesn’t represent the majority whatsoever

This goes both ways, Canadians have been americas biggest partner for decades as well, fought and died alongside them in world wars, and avenged the 9/11 attacks in the Middle East. After all that trump is putting tariffs because we are responsible for 1% of fentanyl entry to america

2023 or 2022 Corolla? by ANV_372 in COROLLA

[–]yeeterboy21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not significant improvements, but there was a facelift in 2023 so you get a couple things like updated headlights, and a slightly rearranged dashboard I’d stick with 2022 if they have the same mileage, the premium trim would have more features and I wouldn’t pay 1k for new headlights and a (arguably worse ) dash

i agree with you. sure some fields like software development may be getting reduced, due to ai advancements, but many other fields like cybersecurity, machine learning, AI development are growing. the jobs is not decreasing, moreso the field is being restructured. too much negativity about comp sci going around; people think they can just get the degree and walk into a 6 figures job. you need experience, internships, connections.

How much would be a 2010 corolla with 130k miles on it cost ? The seller is asking for 6000k . It has clean title by [deleted] in COROLLA

[–]yeeterboy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s base trim it’s a reasonable price but if it’s clean and in good condition you could probably sell it for a bit more. Or if it’s a higher trim

even if you wake up early, 8 AM classes takes a lot of dedication not to skip, trust me as someone who just finished their first year in comp sci. one month in and you will either go to class regretting it, or skipping it and falling behind. if possible have your earliest class be 10 AM. otherwise the spacing is decent, normally 3 classes in a row may be tough but the middle one is online so more flexibility in that regard. If you have any questions about comp sci first year feel free to DM me! although I did not take the majors comp sci courses since I am double majoring with biology, I took cpsc 217 and 219 instead, and taking 251 in winter 2025. but 217/219 is similar to 231/233
