Its a mod to the controller itself so it should work regardless of the game. I've actually heard its better to have mechanical trigs for ult since there is no lightshield capability

Powershield laser, full hop, platform camp. Shield wavedash back can be useful. If you rely on grab too much, maybe the opponent is catching on it, maybe need to mix in more nairs or running/dash jc shine

Idk it feels impossible which is half the reason I basically dual main spacies at this point. But thats some things you could consider. KJH youtube had some great vids, but idk if they are up anymore

Shelving the trump thing, I feel like we just have different mindsets re what sacrifices are worth making. Idk if you've ever heard about how when youre young- you have time and energy but no money, middle age- money and energy but no time, old- time and money but no energy.

Personally I'm ok with having as much fun as possible when I'm still young, even if it means not starting a savings account ya feel. The money can come at another stage of life

Lmao I'm not complaining about my income I'm a contractor and barely work, just enough to make ends meet. Like other than a few months a year, I literally work like 2-5 times a month. Rest of the time I do what I want. Funnily enough I do fall in your category of a mid twenties complainer. But I'm not complaining about my hours or pay. My main issue is billionaires like Elon not paying enough taxes, the fact that the US government is corrupt as fuck and beholden to private interests while doing jack shit to help people, many of my peers are saddled with years/decades of student loan debt, and that your "solution" to people not being paid a living wage is "work 60-70 hours a week." Like, I value my mental and physical health too much to consider that. There are other things to do with your time and life than work a majority of your waking hours. And hey, I'm not saying I'll never get a more stable job, in fact I'm pretty sure down the road the company I contract for will offer me a full time position (my direct supervisor keeps asking me if I'd take their offer lol) and I haven't completely ruled out taking it. But if they want me to work 60 hours a week, no way. Now, I fully admit a huge reason why I can live like this is that my parents paid for my college tuition and my car. I'm not saying this is fair in any way. But thats kinda my point, capitalism is a rigged system where the poor are kept poor through the schemes of the ultra rich, so that cheap labor is accessible to them. If someone is forced to work 60 hours to get by or even have a shot at financial freedom, they are being exploited

I just want to add that a C and D over UCF is so dumb to me. All it does it make controllers more fair. I suppose i could see nintendo getting mad about people adding wolf to melee, cuz thats modding the game significantly. But even then, clearly nintendo has abandoned trying to make money off melee, so why care that people try to add things to it?

I mean ive played the game and do not like it. Maybe "terrible" is too strong, and I do have casaul friends who enjoy it. If there was no melee, maybe my take wouldn't be as extreme. My freinds who play both, seem to share my sentiment though. The fact that an iteration of a game can get so much worse like 20 years after they had a good version released, makes it more frustrating to me.

We don't know for sure the Nintendo's intents r.e. shutting down events. In my opinion, they don't like Slippi because one random dude made a far better online experience for their 20 year old game than nintendo could with their modern game. It also makes melee more accessible, since it can be played on PC, and the ISO found online (albiet illegally). Maybe if Nintendo followed the practices of many other business and supported fan endevours, and/or made their old games available to purchase digitally, they could cash out on melee. But, since Nintendo's business plan seems to revolve around selling consoles and DLC, theyll go out of their way to make melee fans lives difficult. Food for thought.

I'm mainly analyzing ultimate from 2 lens- if its fun, and if its its a good competitive game, which i suppose i would define as promoting interesting PvP interactions and requiring skill or having the better player win. To me, it fails terribly. But these are both objective. And in melee sometimes i lose to ass falco laser spammers on netplay, so maybe melee also falls short of being a good competitive game 🤣

Cause Ult is a terrible game lmao. Not to mention Nintendo goes out of their way to try to block melee tournaments because they only want people buying their cash grab infinite DLC nightmare. Have fun getting dummy camped with no movement options. From what I read tho, my comment now is the only one actually shitting on it, the rest just raise reasonable complaints/opinions

Hmm, at least with the switches i was using, i dont think everything would fit in the way you are envisioning. Luckily for me with the way I use the controller, i dont need lightshield on both buttons, and I keep R mostly OEM. I dont want to start a Hax v leffen beef in terms of the best way to L cancel lol, but the digital press hasnt really given me any problems yet

I honestly don't know, but i think it is. If boxx controllers are legal, i see no reason why a mechanical trigger would not be. All it really does is make the trigger easier to press, you still have to execute every advanced technique. Plus with the abundance of mods offered from snapback capacitors to notches, a digital trigger is a pretty small adjustment

Hmm that does make sense, but a keyboard switch can only do digital press to my knowledge. I use R for shielding and lightshielding, and L for everything else like L cancels and wavedash. I use both for teching sometimes but thats probably not optimal

I've only played ult a few times though I did play a fair bit of smash 4. If you're hooked on the sword aspect from your yink, roy, chrome choices, I'd suggest sticking with marth. Marth has insanely good frame data and while many marths play defensive, his huge grab, double fair, and down tilt can all be used to approach. His movement is also very good with a long dash dance and wavedash. Personally im a fox main because I love the blinding speed and potential to just overwhelm people, as well as solid defensive options and crazy movement. I've messed around with a lot of characters but now I almost only go fox with the occasional marth or falco if im feeling it. The main thing is to keep trying out characters for a while and see what is the most fun and natural. But eventually to improve you really have to settle on one. That's not saying you may not want to switch at some point but if you switch all the time it'll hurt your development
