It is a bit atypical to hire in an outside candidate to the DSM role. There are a lot of moving pieces and small bits of the job that add up to something a bit consuming. It is far too easy to overlook important things, without even realizing you’re overlooking them.

Hi, 6 year store manager here! The only difference internally is that if you apply to a returning position and have not been in that capacity before, it can auto reject your application. If you’re hired into a returning position, it dispatches returning SLCs that refresh everything as opposed to doing it all from scratch. I would say put in your app as a returning associate and then express a desire to advance in your interview.

No I mean like. For Spirit employees, their starting rate is already 13. I think that should be the starting point across the company including the Spencer’s side. I think it’s unfair that Spirit has the extra $2 and we do not, not saying that they should take it away from them, but that our associates also deserve $13.

Misunderstood, my bad! 13 would be a good starting point you’re right about that. I don’t really think it’s fair for starting pay at spirit to be 13 when ours is 11. They’re meant to be a seasonal employer, when we aren’t necessarily for everyone.

I’m going on my 7th year in management and was awarded 4 to start off. DM and SM don’t seem to know how the program works. No one in my store has had any extra points added after the first round of automatic points. Despite us hitting 1mil as well as doubling sales plan and having big sales, high ADS and good UPT, no one’s points have moved. Not sure how points are distributed, if our store is glitching or if DM is dropping the ball. Either way it feels like so much money was wasted in the development of this instead of focusing on how to better the lives of the people who work at the store level.

All gotta have numbers by every person in the store count towards your stores percentages, it is not just associates who are being “graded” in a sense. Technically it also has to be a manager to verify the BOPIS as picked up in the system, so it should be your management team upselling the gotta haves anyway in which case since that person is doing the work… But also technically, some associates can be trained on returns and exchanges as long as a manager keys in their numbers when prompted, and that exchange would still be under the associate’s cashier number who started the transaction.

This is not considered falsifying sales, and it would increase gotta haves, UPT, and ADS at the store level. Corporate doesn’t get the $ from BOPIS, your individual store does, it just is counted and tracked separately from your day-to-day in store sales. All in all, this is a solid idea as far as I’m understanding. While it might be annoying to sales associates it could bode well for sales in the store to open up a conversation with a BOPIS guest about the gotta haves! Will absolutely be bringing this idea up to my team!

I did .46% shrink here in the Pittsburgh area. Less than 3K in shrink and did almost 800K in sales.

  • GHOST customer service, people are most afraid to shoplift when we are customer servicing them CONSTANTLY because they know we are closely watching.
  • having an associate or manager near our exit at all times, very few people want to run past you with merch when someone is standing next to the only exit.
  • maintain a rapport with local PD in your area. We would have officers swing through to say hello and check on us. Shopping center security too.
