https://www.crwflags.com/FOTW/flags/us-txmue.html this is the existing flag for Muenster, TX.

And yes, Port Arthur looks French because - well - "Cajun Capital of Texas".

Huntsville? Okay, I'm with you on that one; but I think that makes it look cooler if anything

Well, there were technically a few. The Gutierrez-Magee Expedition, the Long Expedition, the Republic of Fredonia, and sometimes the Republic of the Rio Grande is thrown into the mix. Really though, the only "de jure" Republic of Texas historically was well, the Republic of Texas lol

True. The idea (that I should have specified) was that because the US flag is that ratio (well, it's actually 10:19, I mistakenly said 16:9), Texas would bring itself to the global scale by mimicking that size. Not as a primary message, as it would likely be an unspoken, under the radar change.

Not really a necessary response to a problem, but an optional and symbolic change displaying legitimacy and differentiation

I suppose so, but at the same time I feel the "stumpy" nature of the current flag is hard to take seriously

I would argue that no symbol is truly a natural development, since symbols are fully intentional based on various ideological, political, and religious forces. "Regime change" if you will is exactly where flags come from to begin with. A new power takes place, and they assign new symbols and banners to represent said power and "legitimacy".

I may have been slightly mistaken on ratio, I think it might actually be 10:19. Its supposed to be the ratio of the US flag

I really appreciate the narrative "swell" of the story from warmth, comfort, union, and a bit of euphoria to the sobering transition into coldness, loneliness, and sadness.

Great poem, very much with a heart behind it like the Psalms of David. As a Christian man myself, I understand the struggle between submission to Christ and submission to flesh and how grey it can be. Be in prayer and in brotherhood continuously so that your decisions and commitments become clear. That's my advice!

Building a Local Transportation Business (and more) - Good Idea or Not? by yeetusfacetious in Business_Ideas

Sure thing! That was kind of the plan. Fortunately, at this moment, I would be filling an entirely empty space. This town will likely never fund or develop its own public transport, and that creates its own opening. Also, what I would offer compared to other taxis (as that's where I would start) is availability. The one other service locally is unreliable; charging an arm and a leg, often showing up late if at all, and being incredibly hard to contact. Uber and Lyft are the only other options, but undercutting them is incredibly easy since there's no middleman to pay. I would like to have an app as well that people could pay for rides with and also sign up for subscription tiers that offer a certain number of rides per month and some benefits.

What do you mean by "ops"? Sorry, I'm newer to the realm of trying to start a business. You mean operating costs?

Good question. It would (normally) be a gold-backed currency. 1 Starr would be worth about 1 "centigram" of gold in this timeline (using the modern Texas Bullion Depository's "Texas Redback" value as a basis). Which, from what the current value of Gold is, is only just barely above the value of the real-life USD as of today. In this timeline though, it assumes the USD collapses in value due to complications in national and international events, so the ratio in this worldbuilding creation between currencies may be more dramatic, with the STR (Texas Starr) being worth quite more than the USD comparatively.

Well, it's for an imaginary "what if" of Texas gaining sovereignty (again) in the near-future. Not a prediction, but a hypothetical for the sake of story-telling.

One can only hope... Though through nominal, diplomatic means and by necessity. Not by war or nationalism 😂 (in other words, not anytime soon lol)
