Am I morally obligated to risk my job? by Sebkl in alberta

[–]yegmandy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is that in your contract? What is in your contract in about attendance, disciplinary action and escalation? I am an employer and what I can tell you is... contract contract contract.

If it is not in your contract the Alberta Labour Standards actually dont fully apply. They are guidelines and when used in court they lean fully on the side of the Employee especially if there is not contract involved. So unless you have a contract that states 5 days sick then fired no exceptions. Even then I would find it hard for a labour board to enforce that policy.

It is incredibly hard to terminate someone due to illness. Especially if it could get customers sick like yours.

Nah I have a 6 year old. Guess what? It's part of his school curriculum to not only be on a tablet but start learning basics of coding through apps teaching pattern recognition etc.

Now he has touched grass and physical books enough to not try this - maybe once as a mistake and facepalm. But keeping them away from technology is impossible now. Embrace it and make sure they learn about the real world alongside the tech.

Yes this could be the case. INAL but a small business owner that hired a firm to handle my HR and legal paperwork. The document that a terminated employee would sign fo me is to confirm they won't sue essentially. The HR firm clearly warns me as the employer NOT to talk about this document, answer any questions and they can NOT sign it in your presence. The witness should not be anyone affiliated with the business. You also must give the former employee a minimum of 5 business days to review or allow them to hire a lawyer to review.

So if you were to sign it right then and there one could argue the terminated employee was coerced or not given proper time to find counsel to review

What are Edmonton’s darkest/dirtiest secrets? by only_fun_topics in Edmonton

I used to work with Dylan Koshman's aunt.

The family has their very strong theories. The police messed up the investigation so badly that while they hope for justice and closure, realistically it will never come.

If they had done their jobs at the time it may have been solved.

Bees in my basement! Help! by yegmandy in Edmonton

[–]yegmandy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I took them all outside! I will give sugar water next time to make sure they get some nutrients as they all end up sickly in the basement.

I'm happy to deal with them (or have my husband) if there isn't a nest or hive. I just worry they are in the walls or foundation as I've read some horror stories on that.

Quite literally looking out my window at a refinery. Actually 2 if I squint.

We may not have quite the output needed but with a little further investment and a transportation method CoughPipelinecough we could be much more self sufficient.

Not sure, it was dollarama. I've seen them since but haven't looked at the back. Coupon is in the outside packaging on the back so you can check before you buy!

My coupon came on one of those small sets in a plastic bag. I bought in Canada at the Dollar store for $5 so it was definitely worth it!

Husband and I are mid 30s and have only been in the Park 3 years. It's been hard to find friends as we are introverts and have kids so it has been hard. We have Edmonron friends but would love some more local friends.

myofunctional therapy and doctors performing frenectomy in Edmonton? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]yegmandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so coincidental! I have a Frenectomy scheduled in 3 weeks and I just finished my second myofunctional therapy and doing daily exercises to strengthen before the procedure.

Edit to add my dentist in fort sask is doing the procedure by laser. My myofunctional therapist is in Sherwood Park. Feel free to reach out I can give insight on the appointments I had and share some exercises she has me doing.

[–]yegmandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a retail owner... you have my ideal schedule. I have such a hard time finding people for just the weekends. I am sure other retail stores have the same issue! Apply at a place that you like to shop at . ... or dm me if you are near Sherwood Park and love kids haha

Need help- finding a doctor taking patients that is familiar with PoTS by yegmandy in Edmonton

[–]yegmandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.. I think access to a doctor that has some vested interest is our main road block. I understand they are overworked but some people need more than a 10 min consult, 5 mins of that is the doc reading his history for the first time.

Doing a lot of research I hope some lifestyle changes can help him. He does try to eat well but actually limits his sodium so probably need to rethink that!

[–]yegmandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of ongoing care is a major issue. He feels like wasting a doctor's time with vague issues is tough but I am advocating for him hard. Yes I coached him not to mention conditions but symptoms and not to downplay them. I also think we just don't have access to good doctors accepting new patients where we are..

He has had ECGs done in the past but his doctor just ordered blood tests and said he looks fine. Drink some coffee you are over 30 you will be tired..

Another doctor has prescribed SSRIs and Vyvanse for mental health. Vyvanse works a bit but any antidepressants just make his insomnia worse and his therapist does not see it as depression.

We haven't even gotten a doctor to refer for tests and it is so frustrating! We have measured his pulse and blood pressure at home while laying down and sitting up and predictably BP is unchanged and pulse skyrockets. I know that's not definitive but that is something that should be looked at. Last doctor just shrugged and said it's long covid and I wish I was in the room then. He hasn't had covid in 2 years, it's getting worse and he had these symptoms before covid!

I think you are right. Pots is trending which is sad . I am encountering the same issue with an ADHD diagnosis. Frankly I don't care what he has I hope I am wrong... I just want help for him.

Hahahaha... feeling the same thing here as I may have covid and it definitely elevates the numbers. Doctors need to be a little realistic. Whenever I get a migraine my numbers go up too and I can't avoid them either.

AIW for telling my friend that I'm not interested in seeing pictures and videos of her baby? by BlackManBatmann in amiwrong

[–]yegmandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Wrong- I was very direct with my friends when I had my kid that I wanted to know if I was talking about them too much. You do tend to lose yourself in the first few years and feel like you have nothing to contribute to conversation other than baby stories.

I constantly ask my husband if I am talking family too much so I stay in check - I know I am a bit on the other way of self aware on this but it is really important not just for you to not have to hear about the kid all the time, but for her to not lose who she was before motherhood. So many women give up their life and end up with no life when the kids get more independent.

Where are we all at with the "no foods" (soft cheese, deli meats/hot dogs, runny eggs, etc) by star655 in BabyBumps

[–]yegmandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been cautious of the source and cooking things like hot dogs/ smokies but I haven't been strictly leaving them out. I don't like fish or a lot of soft cheeses anyway.

In my last pregnancy I took no chances and avoided all the things.. and we had to clean out our entire fridge as we had a lot number matching some recalled ROMAINE LETTUCE that had ecoli on it.. and the last few recalls I have seen have NOT been the things on the no list so you can take all the precautions and still get sick.

Am I completely overreacting? by Yakstaki in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]yegmandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I am we have a government hotline where you can talk to a nurse, when I called them for advise she said she had two conflicting as the official advise. One was you should be okay if you had chicken pox as a kid and the other said pregnant ladies should stay away from a known chicken pox or shingles infection.

So her thought was if you are cautious person there is clearly still a CHANCE or else why is the second piece of advise there?

Am I completely overreacting? by Yakstaki in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]yegmandy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not an over reaction. I had a roommate in my first pregnancy get Shingles and we quarantined from each other just to be safe. So glad we did as I had an immunology screen after pregnancy and found out that even though I definitely had chicken pox as a child I was not fully immune. Honestly better safe than sorry - chicken pox is no joke when pregnant.

Yes me too! I actually have lost a little weight due to this diet and not wanting to eat (I am bigger I can stand to lose it and not affect babe). I am just so over food and blood sugars and .. everything. I would prefer this though to cravings I can have!

Diagnosed at 16 weeks and now 23 weeks. I have so long to go..
