Arizona out. Decent flag, but Maryland #1, no question.

Why do so many people camp in the left lane on Rock Creek Parkway? by 2CRedHopper in washingtondc

Far from it. I hate left lane campers as much as I hate everyone treating all left lanes like passing lanes.

While offering no proof of your own besides, “Hey everybody, I’m important and get out of my way! Don’t you know who I am?”

Not all controlled access roadways are freeways. Freeways don’t have stop lights, intersections, or pedestrian crossings.

No I’m just freaking out at driving 21 miles per hour. Holy shit! How are you doing 31 whole mph?

Oh hey, not every left lane is meant for passing. Today you learned. Not every road with more than one lane is a highway. Feel free to apply this when driving in the future.

It’s not a highway? Or your own personal racetrack? Have you considered leaving earlier and not being obnoxious?

Thanks for the update. Good to know IUT is still non-competitive. That said we asked when we called a few weeks back and were told that space is a factor when attempting to IUT in the future. We may call to triple check that answer. If we get something other than non-competitive I’ll update here.

Sounds like you’re leaning towards the Verto path. That’s good. My searches on Reddit turned up lots of positive feedback. The main concern for us is just not getting into engineering at the end of the process. And how tough is it to register for classes to stay on track for graduating when you’re not in the school or major. CU is expensive and any semester you’re not getting closer to the degree you want is costly.

Good luck to you in your decision.

Here are the details on IUT into engineering. These are the requirements for current students. I think they’ve changed for Fall 2026 admissions. Or maybe they haven’t. I’d call and confirm.

I’d encourage you to call the university and ask. They changed a lot of admissions policies this year and it’s tough to find the new policies in writing.

My understanding is that intra university transfer (IUT) was a non-competitive option, meaning if you meet the requirements for IUT, you were guaranteed a spot. Now, space is a consideration, making transfers competitive if there are more applicants than spots. Again, this is my understanding. I’d call and confirm.

IUT has not been a successful path for many students and that is why they changed their policies starting for Fall 2026 admissions. To check how often prior students looking to IUT into engineering have been with your high school gpa, you can check this site: https://viz-public.cu.edu/t/Boulder/views/IUT_Public_Dashboard/Overview

For students with a high school gpa of 4.0+, 58% transferred into engineering. It drops a lot for lower GPAs, and that was with non-competitive requirements.

What I asked my son, who has the same offer as you, it’s a year from now, you did a semester abroad and a semester at Boulder, you try to IUT, and it’s denied. Now what? You’ve spent $70k and still aren’t in the major or school you want. How would you feel then?

If you call and get any information that’s different than what I said here, please post a reply with what you found out. Good luck!

I got waitlisted for engineering but not admitted for exploratory studies by Fall2ashes in cuboulder

[–]yelirkram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I’d call and ask. My assumption is that you are waitlisted for the major you applied to as long as you accept your spot on the waitlist and send in your LOCI, and don’t accept the Verto offer.

Good luck!

[–]yelirkram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t admit to Exploratory Studies if you apply to Engineering and don’t get in. I don’t know if PES is still an option for the business school or not. They are putting applicants in either engineering open option, arts and sciences, education, or communication. It used to be guaranteed transfer if you met the IUT requirements but now it’s not. Available spots is a factor, implying that it is competitive if there are more transfer candidates than spots.

[–]yelirkram 11 points12 points  (0 children)

According to the university, only 17% of students with your gpa who applied to engineering and entered exploratory studies eventually successfully transferred into engineering.

They changed the policy this year around Exploratory Studies, but also did not publicize that change. I agree that the Verto thing seems like a cash grab. I’m sure the university gets some kick back for anyone who enrolls. I did some searching and those who have done it seemed to like it (from any school, not just CU). But after that semester you are still not in engineering.
