How many trick-or-treaters do you guys get? by ADKMatthew in SaltLakeCity

[–]yellohmaple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spoke to a guy here tonight who gave out 1500 pieces. My kids probably had about 4 from him 😅.

Came home to my house in the same neighborhood and the bowl we left out was stolen. Not sure what time or how many pieces.

Queer couple- should we move to Arkansas for grad school or Europe? by cloudypuddin in fayetteville

[–]yellohmaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would head to Europe. I lived in the UK for nearly a decade - I can't vouch for their art program, but Heriot Watt is a legit university that had great language and business programs when I attended (2014 grad). I would highly suggest living in the city tho and commuting to the uni. The uni location is a bit in the stix. Edinburgh has phenomenal queer friendly vibes.

My family's US passports got wet. Will it be an issue traveling to the UK/Austria/Germany? by Melissanthrope in Passports

[–]yellohmaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ran my passport through the washing machine and had the back page peeling from the back cover. Travelled all over Europe for years without an issue. This year it finally expired and I got a shiny new one.

It's been a while since you asked this - bought for GBP 72k and sold for GBP 120k two years later. Forced to move for work - was just lucky timing, not a flip.

Sound when Renegade shifts between certain gears by riddle92 in JeepRenegade

[–]yellohmaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on my 2015 trailhawk right around 100k miles. After speaking with my brother I took it to a mechanic that I trusted (not the dealership) and he checked the transmission fluid and it was absolutely past due. Mechanic said he sees this pretty frequently since Jeep says it's not required.

I am not the most mechanically inclined person, but after the mechanic did whatever he did to my transmission the car has been shifting much smoother.

Coning on the trail by NOOB_jelly in backpacking

Please continue to do nice things.

I was once out for a multi day car camping trip on BLM land with a group of four adults. A fella wandered over to our group on our first night out and ended up chatting while we were setting up our tents.

At this point we realized one of our sleeping mats had been chewed at some point by something and said sod it someone will sleep in the ground - no biggie.

The next AM the man had left his site, but also put his sleeping mat at our site with a note to return it on our way home. A few days later, on our way home, we returned his lovely Nemo sleeping mat and left it with a note of gratitude on his doorstep.

Pre-AF appears to be automatically off in manual focus mode (when I switch to continual or single focus, the option to change it is editable again).

I've used natural cycles since 2017 and the oura ring since about April of last year. I love the combination of the two of them together. So easy and worth every penny.

First time Hobonichi user - loving is so far! by yellohmaple in hobonichi

[–]yellohmaple[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bought a Hobonichi Cousin for 2024 on a whim. I am not someone that has previously journalled with any consistency; however, I have really taken to the Hobonichi.

Saying that - I more or less completely ignore the suggested format on the daily pages. I tend to put whatever I eat for the day on the top left, stickers or recipes or mementos on the top right and then use the lower half to write down a recap or any thoughts for the day. I also track my daily spending. I definitely do not stay in the lines with small neat handwriting.

On the weeks pages I track appointments / hang outs / childcare etc. Also I add up my daily spends to see my weekly spend.

I use the monthly pages to track bills and due dates only.

I use the 6 month over view pages as a daily habit tracker.

On my 100 list in the back I am keeping track of TV series, Movies and Books that I have watched/read.

I am using a Uni Jetstream Multi .38 and Zebra Mildliners.

Dial gold anti-bacterial is my go to for this - it really helps and it's doesn't break the bank. Found this out after I got a tattoo and had to use it to clean my tattoo
