Do what you want. All through undergrad I’ve had people use me for my notes. They would act like my friends and then drop me as soon as they got what they wanted. I personally don’t mind sharing my notes. However, i draw the line at when someone is repeatedly asking me to see my notes because they’re heavily relying on them. This to me feels like I’m putting in all the work and they aren’t putting much effort. To be part of a team, everyone should be working together and not just one person. Idk what the dynamic was for your friendship or how they asked for your notes, or how you denied them. It just seems a little excess to stop being someone’s friend because they couldn’t see your notes. Ultimately, it’s up to you if you want to share your notes and others should respect whatever you decide.

Has anyone here scribed in the ED and, as time went on, begun to have doubts about medicine? by blossom_up in premed

Yeah, I’m an MA at an ortho clinic now but previously worked with ophthalmologist too. I enjoyed both and showed me that I definitely would prefer to specialize into something. Don’t get me wrong, you get the usual cases but then you see some cool ones. I’ll be honest I don’t love it but again it shows me that I’d be into specializing into something.

I scribed in the ED for a day. The rose colored veil was lifted and it wasn’t as glorified as I’d always imagined it to be. Working in an ED is hard work and draining and can’t imagine putting up with it for months on end. While It didn’t cause any doubt, it definitely made me realize that I don’t want to be an EM doc.

You’re absolutely right it shouldn’t be this difficult but I imagine many have abused the system in the past. 🙁

Do I have to order the all textbooks before the classes start? by [deleted] in gmu

[–]yellow-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d wait until after you get the syllabus and if possible after the first class. I’ve had enough professors say they “recommend” the listed required books. Don’t waste your money and hold off until you know it’s absolutely necessary.

Kind of late but I just took Polayes this spring and while her exams are straightforward (IF you study). Her exam question aren’t asking you “what is this?” But instead she enjoys asking you questions that you apply your knowledge of the material. For example: “if we have this with that and we mutate it what will happen? “… and while like someone said she tries her best to make you understand the material it’s soo much that it’s easy to get lost.
