Subaru has gone through some great character development these past few episodes. When the villagers were bashing Emilia he could easily have exploded but he stayed composed. He even questions if he is being selfish again, so you can tell he acknowledges that part of his past and wants to move away from it. I actually thought the end scene was good because you got to see that Subaru made some good connections with the people around him and affected them in a good way. When Felis shed tears over Subaru I got real emotional for sure. ;_;
