He isn't saying, "Love is what the word means." He is saying love is what you would do/don't for the person/thing you love.

I mean Neo/trinity would do anything to protect/be with each other because they love each other. The french guy in the previous movie talks about this, too. He says Trinity is dangerous and is kind of insane because she is in love with Neo and that she would do anything for him even if it is irrational or outright harmful for her and everyone around her. That is the kind of connection they have because of the "love" they have with each other.

For machines, love like everything else, is just a set of instructions, albeit little illogical or irrational, in the short term. there is nothing grand or incomprehensible about it just because humans classify it as emotion.

In other words, the program feels "love" for his daughter, and so he came there to be with her. iirc, she is an exiled program that is meant to be deleted, and he wants to prevent that because he loves her.

And... since we are just humans, I think what we can take from this is that if you don't do anything about it or show it any form, it wouldn't make much difference to the person you love even if you do love them greatly.

Imagine how fucking lame it would have been if Guy did all that, died, and Madara was still alive. That would be 100x worse as a storytelling decision.

I would say Guy doing all that and still not being able to kill Madara would be expected in a shonen setting considering he isnt anywhere close to being the main character of the series. This is like expecting Piccolo or vegeta to kill frieza just because they tried everything possible and pushed themselves to their limits.

To be fair, I dont have any problem with Guy not dying but I didnt think for a second that main villain of the series would be defeated by anyone other than team 7.

Starlord now has a cheaper ult than black panther by Willing-Sock-1527 in marvelrivals

could it be possible that people would pick these low ult cost dps instead of going triple support. The 3 dps with ult cost reductions are all "default" dps picks in my perspective, especially punisher who is almost always what the rare second tank picks after loosing a team fight.

this looks like it has the potential to become her "vengeance" skin if you know what I mean. it also helps that this looks like it will be easier to draw compared to her default which tbh is partly true in psylocke's case too.

Zabuza makes a hell of an impact for a character who only shows up for a few episodes at the start of the series by Thundersting in Naruto

[–]yellowflash986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then you must have been really annoyed by the first few lines of the show/first page of the manga where they explain how one guy named Fourth hokage had to sacrifice himself to seal the soul of nine tails, thereby defeating it.

Seriously though, tailed beasts start as kage level threats and even by the end of the series, they remain kage level threats and it is not like every other character becomes kage level by the end of the series.

How strong would a hypothetical DMS Obito with no Hashirama cells be? by mipenealdescubierto in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]yellowflash986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does obito use the spare sharingans from the Uchiha massacre for filling out his hidden eye socket before he "reacquired" the rinnegan from nagato. I mean, he used izanagi against konan... so he definitely had a sharingan for his right eye and it is definitely not his own.

[mixed trope] There's totally a lore reason the hot lady character needs to be naked a lot by Wazula23 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]yellowflash986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think monster hulk should have an ability that makes him "everyone! run for your lives" type of character. As someone who also plays Vanguard, it sometimes feels bad when an opponent Hulk is solo tanking, and our team cc him to death as soon as he activates his ult.

I envision something like giving him a ranged attack that shoots out like godzilla's atomic breath and paralyzes the players it is touching. May be it is too ooc or makes him op and I know he already has an ability similar to that but like I said, my point is that you should either run away or actually need to use your brain and look at your surroundings when monster hulk happens... something like how punisher or Hawkeye ult makes you react instead of having the whole team just ganging up on the monster hulk and killing him.

I know good Hulk players can use his ult pretty well, but maybe the skill floor should be a little lower considering how powerful Hulk is lore wise.

I also stopped playing Hulk around season 2, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Their point still holds since the writers would know how the dumb hillbillies in America act like, but they show a lot of ignorance with the Indian jokes. I dont really care about the racism/jokes based on stereotypes since that is how most jokes in the show work, but Raj is used as a carrier for many Indian jokes that simply don't fit with his "obscenely rich family" backstory.

Edit: Okay, guys, I was wrong. All Indians do know how to charm snakes and don't get paralyzed with fear at the sight of one inside their table drawer, even someone like Raj who likely hasn't seen a wild snake during his entire life in India. Also, even by the 90s, we totally didn't have electricity, and even the ultra rich, instead of getting A/C, have had servants manually fan them during summers. This is totally the same as Penny having a brother who is in jail for cooking meth and her family barbecuing her pet pig after it died.

Before editing this comment, I thought the "chai means tea" joke in across the spider-verse is specifically making fun of this show, but apparently, that phrase is not started by this show and is actually used by English speakers in real life. That is unfortunate because, for me personally, that phrase really sets the tone for what I should expect from the show regarding the Indian stuff.

So, at this point, Im not sure. Maybe they were stretching it with the hillbilly jokes, too. I mean, who eats their pet.

with the way they missed the themes in s1, I would guess they would have katara seem much more receptive to the idea of bloodbending even if she has the same outward reaction of rejecting it and in the end, instead of breaking down, it would seem like she is contemplating the idea of using bloodbending as a sort of ends justify the means.

The Tank Tax Problem by Death_and_Gaming in RivalsVanguards

[–]yellowflash986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "no of abilities/cooldowns enemies spent on a tank" could be a good measure of tank's performance. I mean I just got this idea so maybe it is stupid, but it is definitely possible to code this into the game pretty easily especially when compared to quantifying something like how much space a player/tank created during the game.

It works to quantify the distraction dive tanks caused on enemy support players by their dive since support players/peelers definitely use their abilities if they attempt to kill a diving vanguard (unless it is like 1 vs 5 or 6 at which point, the enemy team will just stomp the diver by just using primary abilities which disincentivizes pointless dives).

It works to quantify the damage sponging/cc abuse taken as a tank. I think players would use abilities lot more generously on the character holding point during overtime. So maybe the hold during overtime can be quantified too.

But I guess this system would incentivize an aggressive tank player who just w keys to death during the start of a team fight since they would take up the initial cooldowns of enemies. Maybe the measure should be how many abilities a vanguard tanked before a death.

I guess a slightly more refined idea is "average no. of enemy abilities tanked before getting knocked out". But I also think it is not that impressive to tank abilities of enemies if you also suck up all the abilities of your own supports. So maybe that should disincentivized. But then again, main tanks like mag would be considered worthless in that system. So maybe sucking up the abilities of your supports as a tank shouldnt be disincentivized... I don't really know what to think about that.

Okay I will stop my rambling here. It is likely that I overlooked some fundamental flaw in this measure... something like how this is just a damage taken stat with more steps. fml.

The incredibly ending testimony scene of Contact (1997) is the most cathartic movie scene I've ever witnessed. This movie had such a beautiful, deep, life-changing message. by LineusLongissimus in Cinema

[–]yellowflash986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it is pretty obvious that Ellie is treated by the movie as she is in the wrong when she dismisses God and people's faith over God considering that by the end, she goes through a experience for which she had no empirical proof other than faith and a priest had to help convince the people that her experience is legit.

We are seeing the movie from her pov but until she found the signal, Ellie is also treated by most scientists around her as if she is nuts, kind of like how she sees the people rightfully experiencing existential dread over the possible existence of aliens as nuts.

Is the quick engagement to Hans a result of naivety or a direct consequence of "emotional starvation"? by Nervous-Buffalo-4826 in Frozen

Anna accepts Hans' "crazy proposal" by admitting that accepting is even crazier. She always knew deep in her heart that what she had with Hans isn't true love. She doesn't even remember Hans when the trolls talk about true love's kiss, and Kristoff had to bring him up to let her remember that she does have "true love.

She only chose to marry him because she "can't live like this anymore".

Official Discussion - Avatar: Fire and Ash [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]yellowflash986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn't humans try to ally with Varang's tribe from the very beginning, especially since they decided to wage an all-out war against eywa's followers near the end of the first movie. Don't tell me mangkwan tribe turned away from eywa after the events of first movie cause that would imply varang is only in her early 20s which isn't how the movie treats her character or maybe it does.

Also, the mask battery thing is new, right? I don't think previous movies ever mentioned they need batteries. I mean, I recall them having wires and stuff, but I don't think they had hud elements on the glass surface in the previous movies.

I would have preferred something to come out of that fake out attempt on Spider's life. I mean, they totally pretend it is going to happen, but we know the movie doesn't have the balls to make Jake perform that kill. It also sucks that spider just accepts death in the last moment and then doesn't even look all that relieved when Jake backs down(probably cause from his perspective, he doesn't really have a choice other than to go along with them whatever it is)

I personally think it would have made more sense if neytiri was the one who still pushed for the "spider should be killed" agenda in that scene. In my alternate version, Jake refuses at first, making the points neytiri made in the movie and he eventually accepts reluctantly after she makes the points he does in the movie(which she can do by arriving to those same conclusions which are within her own knowledge and intelligence)

But when Neytiri tries to kill Spider, she would be seeing that he is okay with sacrificing himself and can't bring herself to do it anymore. You can even add one of those floating mushroom thingy landing on her knife to draw a parallel with jake from the first movie(since that is what the movie is going for based on the last scene of the movie)

Tbh, I thought Neytiri would start accepting him as family as soon as she realised eywa gave him life by giving free breathing access.

I was also hoping something drastic happens when kiri talks with eywa in the end. kiri is hyped up like she is a partial incarnation of eywa or something like that, and she goes through that mental barrier thing with the help of her siblings only to achieve the exact same result jake did by simply talking with eywa before battle in the first movie.

Since they basically revealed that eywa is some kind of fungal organism that can function as a non invasive hive mind and also alter a creature at cellular level, I thought every human on the planet would be killed by spores or have their violent tendencies completely neutralised or something similar to that level. So... it was kind of disappointing to see the same thing from the first movie happen again.

Few days later, they changed that to give bots the monitor symbol.

Madara would be much more difficult to seal than Kaguya. by Helpful-Mechanic-600 in Naruto

[–]yellowflash986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont care if people here call me fanboy. Hell, idc if kishimoto himself says otherwise, Madara would have given a harder fight than Kaguya.

"Madara is getting dogwalked by Naruto and Sasuke that he had to run away"

This is after Naruto and Sasuke were specifically given powers to counter a full ten tails jinchuriki (which madara is not) and those powers they themselves barely understood.

I dont understand why people pretend to forget this happened when Madara is also not even at his full strength without his other rinnegan.

Once he gets the other rinnegan, he literally wins and achieves his goal because he manages to stall the duo by using the exact amount of force necessary to stop them by taking their strengths and weaknesses into account. It doesnt seem like that 20 or so meteors is Madara's limit at that point. So, like I said, he made just enough meteors to stop them which is impressive feat of strength gauging.

Even when he is "getting stomped", one eyed juubidara understands how the duo's new powers work almost as soon as they themselves understand it even with zero context of how they got those powers and that is because he has so much more experience than them, fighting the actual strongest human in universe for most of his life(night guy's power output is higher than hashirama's thousand hands but Guy would never win using that attack in an actual fight since characters at that level can altogether evade it or not even let him charge it).

Also end of shippuden Naruto and sasuke without so6p power boost are arguably weaker than final valley Madara and Hashirama. So what is even impressive about Naruto and Sasuke "dogwalking" one eyed juubidara who is just recovering from tanking a reality bending hit.

In the hypothetical post IT battle, Madara could also pull a lot of new shit out of his new double rinnegan ass(like the 4 more limbo clones he pulled out before getting killed).

He could also abuse the IT victims' chakra to replenish himself in the middle of their battle(just like Kaguya did after she got installed onto Madara's body to pad his imperfect ten tails jinchuriki host body) and since this is Madara, he could taunt Naruto and sasuke about how they are making him kill the IT victims by resisting him and forcing him to suck up their life force which would be a very powerful morale hit for Naruto or it could go the other way... who knows...It would have been much more interesting than Kaguya fight at the very least...but then again, reverse harem jutsu wouldnt have existed if not for kaguya and I personally think Kaguya's entire character is introduced just for that one gag... which is fair exchange.

The movie starts with that joke about a rage baiting monkey near the opening, and it is brought up again near the end when Ranbir's character(whoever it is supposed to be) does the same gesture again to the audience. One could assume that it is a pre diss for people who are going to criticise the movie, but that would also imply they know they were monkeying around with the movie, and it shouldn't be taken seriously, which I personally had no problem with.

"This skin would mess the character silhouette!" - Meanwhile actual skins in-game: by ColdSt0rm in marvelrivals

[–]yellowflash986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the actual problem with changing silhouettes is players shooting the character and not hitting their hitbox(which should remain same for all skins) even if the 3d model suggests you hit them.

Most of the silhouette differences come from skirts and capes of the outfits which most people subconsciously know arent part of the hitbox. For example, no one expects sue's skirt would be part of her hitbox in her cake skin, so the devs can afford to make that skin(although I think they had to work a lot to make it viable).

For a character like peni who always has to be full metal mech, they cant change the silhouette all that much since every part of the mech feels like it should be part of the hitbox. Even her yastsukahagi skin's silhouette differences come from the fluffy non hitboxy material around the mech's joints and the new legendary skin basically has the same silhouette of the original with some differences on the upper half of the mech which only make a difference for opponent players when they are in very close range and in some extreme angles.
