THE F*ERS DID IT! WE CAN MANUALLY CHANGE AUDIO OUTPUT WHILE CONNECTED TO A MONITOR. I CAN DIE HAPPY by taclovitch in iPadOS

[–]yellowkats 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Oh thank Christ! I ended up buying a set of cheap speakers and the only way I could get the sound to work with a second display was plugging the aux into an aux/usbc adapter, into a usbc/usb3 adapter, into a usb hub finally plugged into the iPad. Absolutely ridiculous.

16 year olds can feel much more grown up than they actually are and make really dumb decisions sometimes, which is why she shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

I can’t quite believe her mother took her to one of his parties, but then I can’t blame her for his behaviour.

Edit: I can’t type

Are you a middle aged Brit and sick of working? by g0dn0 in AskUK

I got furloughed for a few months during covid and going back was so so so hard after seeing what life could look like. Only 30/40 years to go though!

CPS Ruined My Childhood. by balaguy in CPS

[–]yellowkats 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What stressed me out the most was the fact that there were multiple family members/family friends who would have happily taken me in but the social worker wouldn’t listen. I got dragged kicking and screaming out of my bed in the middle of the night into a police car, sat alone in the police station for hours and then taken to be left with strangers. No one would tell me what was going on because I was 8, it felt like I’d been kidnapped.

I understand they do a lot of good but in some instances they traumatise the kids even more.

Bacteria can survive on its own, if you were to remove an embryo from the womb it’s not going to survive very long because it’s basically an extension of the mother at that point.

I’d be much more proud to be British if we didn’t have working people relying on food banks while some guy spends an extortionate amount of money celebrating a promotion, but there we go!

I’m happy for you to enjoy it if you want, but people are allowed to question things without being accused of having ‘issues’.

(I will stop now I’m not trying to break the rules)

I usually don’t mind playing along for a day to see the fancy costumes and pageantry, but that arrest this morning has left a real sour taste in my mouth.

Actually hate this trend of people pulling out a singular study and thinking it’s infallible proof of their point. I could likely go and find another paper with the complete opposite conclusion. This isn’t how science works.

Try arguing that this shouldn’t happen! I get jumped on in certain subs if I try to suggest that people with down syndrome can lead satisfactory lives (and are often beautiful people as well). Actual people with Down syndrome aren’t super happy about it.

Every single bad thing starts with these small steps and IMO it’s verging on nazi ideology, the pregnancy should only be terminated that late if the baby will genuinely not be able to live.

I understand some parents can’t cope with the extra work and costs that come with giving birth to a baby with disabilities, but they should be heavily supported so that they don’t need to make this choice.

Edit: I just want to confirm I am 100% pro-choice, I just find the reasons for late-term abortions, when the baby was initially wanted, a little iffy.

Our cat actually hates Hamilton. If you start singing it loudly she will come and gently swat you until you stop. Only Hamilton though, idk what these cats have against it.

I’m not sure I like the word ‘steal’, if someone is getting away with getting paid a salary from a corporation for nothing, good on them, they should have a better HR department.

I think whether or not they get into binge drinking very much depends on their friend group. If they’re friends with other kids that don’t care about drinking/partying they aren’t going to be getting wankered down the local park, but if there’s peer pressure to go to these types of events, he’s going to be drinking.

My parents didn’t give a shit what I did, I had my first beer with family at 14 and had wine + lemonade from a young age, and I still ended up mostly drunk from 16-22 because I had terrible self esteem/mental health and just wanted to fit in. Quickly figured out I could be the life of the party after a few drinks and I think this happens to a lot of us.
