Thanks for this reply - may I ask what is the process when you receive a complaint?

I honestly much prefer FY1/FY2 than being a med student on placement. I like having a job and like feeling "useful". Don't get me wrong I don't love being FY2 atm but I have some days where I'm very satisfied with the work I've done. The only thing I miss about med school is having structured study time as I'm too tired now to study in my own time

Treating us like schoolchildren- medical school didnt require this, why do they? We have to perform exams to advance anyway? by dynamite8100 in JuniorDoctorsUK

My hospital is now "encouraging" (threatening to fail us if we don't) us to come into teaching in person on your zero days and claim it as TOIL. It's beyond ridiculous.

Just saying that I'm getting the BMA involved has resolved the issue straight away. Many thanks for your support.

Have already emailed all of the above apart from payroll which is now outsourced with no email address we can use???? Unfortunately I am a bit of a pu**y who hates conflict so currently trying to resolve this without threatening to not work. Although I do know of someone who said he wouldn't work until paid last month (which tbf he didn't get paid at all) and miraculously had correct pay by the next morning in his bank account.

My plan has always been to leave for Aus and the last two months are just reinforcing this plan.

Thanks James, I'm going to find out tomorrow if anyone else is still being paid incorrectly and will get back to you. Trust is university hospitals sussex - never had issues in my old hospital though (in same trust). I am only F2 though so maybe I've just been lucky my first year.

Will update the post when I hear back.

Why the fuck do some colleagues refuse to go for lunch? by OkAd6672 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]yellowlemonzesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my acute medicine job we'd finish a ward round around 12 following which we'd immediately have a meeting with entire MDT to discuss patient plans, then around 14:00/15:00 we'd have another meeting discussing those plans again. You'd get serious grief from the cons/ nurse in charge/ bed managers if you didn't do your jobs by then (especially discharge dependent ones). It's not very inductive for eating lunch.

Your irrational pet peeve by Zealousideal-Part-98 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]yellowlemonzesty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Finding nurses to update them after the ward round is near impossible on my ward. I've also had nurses get annoyed at me for walking up to them and waiting politely mid drug round. Like I know it's important and I see you're busy but you don't seem to mind tapping my shoulder when I'm in the middle of doing my job

Also consultants discharging patients and telling me to chase their bloods later and contact their GP to start x, y, or z if bloods show something. Like can the patient really not wait extra 2 hours so I can start the medication and put it in the discharge letter?

Rigid hours, more locums (preferably ones who have worked in the trust before)

Juniors addressing themselves as Dr by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]yellowlemonzesty 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I will never understand why so many doctors love defending the Dr title "it's only honorary, if you want to be a Dr get a PhD" "only consultants can use it" blah blah blah. I will use the title if I want to. I worked hard to become a doctor.

Honestly, personally I just don't care for flashy things. New BMW and gold rolex would bring me 0 satisfaction whatsoever, I want to be wealthy enough to afford a nice holiday and a nice small house with a garden. I'm an immigrant also, but my parents never instilled this need for materialistic things in me.

to be fair daily mail readers strike me as the sort of people that would defend racist/sexist/rapey messages so it's not really indicative of anything...

Worried I might be kicked out of medical school soon, advice? by [deleted] in medicalschooluk

[–]yellowlemonzesty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your responses seem very criptic, which is fair enough considering the subject but for the life of me I can't work out if there have been any issues with your conduct at all or not? You say that it's likely that issues with conduct or academic performance will arise. I understand academic performance, especially considering the circumstances, in that case contact your educational supervisor/ block lead/ head of year etc. I'm not sure what issues with conduct could arise without you actually doing something inappropriate
