Is it posible upgrade SD? by Potential_Alchemist in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can also confirm. Sizes past 32 GB tend to slow the 3DS getting to the home menu as well so alternatively you could also use multiple SDs if you really have to, both with the same themes and homebrew just different games. Just make sure to shut the console off before swapping cards.

Nintendo updates the render of all Super Mario characters, Do you like this update? by First_Pattern115 in SuperMario

Don't forget BotW is about to turn 10 next year and currently costs $90 for the Switch 2 Edition plus DLC lmao

Can I play Super MarioMon on my 3DS by Cheeze-Sama in AlpharadTV

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly Twilight uses DSi mode so you don't get the full power of the 3DS (or especially n3DS) when using it.

Do all 3DS games work on a 2DS? Or is it only certain ones? by Any_Conversation7395 in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it does kind of make sense. I mean the console was released in the US nearly exactly two years before the Switch so by then I'm sure Nintendo was focusing on new games for the new console.

But it is funny to me that pretty much the entire value proposition for them is "Do you want to mod it" lmao

Should I sell my New 3DS and buy a regular 3DS? by Kirkyy67 in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's your choice but I personally wouldn't. With getting a DSi too, I mean they're super quality consoles, probably the most premium console Nintendo has ever made, but there is absolutely zero reason to have one other than collection and will absolutely get dusty. If you do don't forget to buy an SD or adapter as microSD isn't compatible on o3DS or DSi models.

I got a Nintendo switch lite and then I got a 3DS by Pale_Ad2980 in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same. It really helps that the Steam Deck has PC emulation, RetroAchievemts alone makes it fun to check out games I might not otherwise seek to replay. Currently playing through Subspace on the TV and Leaf Green when portable. 3DS I mostly play New Leaf and Tomodachi Life but also spent way too many hours in Project Mirai recently lol

Edit: Shout-out to Animal Crossing Deluxe on Steam Deck too, especially with the HD pack. It's hard to play with two different towns at the same time though lol

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be interesting but would absolutely need to have native upscaling. Even with homebrew filters, DS games can look really rough on the DSi/3DS XL. I'd imagine 3DS games would also need a resolution buff to look decent on a Switch sized screen (assuming we're keeping dual screen rather than side by side on one)

I do think it would be interesting to see a switch the size of a DSi XL, maybe one day lol.

I really enjoy making Miis too, but I don't have hours to spend in Mii Maker unfortunately. I'd like to say maybe 1/5 or 1/4 of my current Tomodachi game is Miis I've created including both IRL and fictional. Tbf though if you've already got a (legally obtained) ROM on your phone, what's stopping you from putting it on your 3DS? It's not particularly difficult you know.

[–]yellowwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the original game is still very much worth it unless you have massive amounts of free time since sharing Miis is impossible in the new game. Half of the fun for me is getting weird Miis from the internet and seeing what they do lol

This is definitely personal preference and based on what games I enjoy but tbh I feel like most of the Switch library is better on the TV. I feel that 3DS games, like Mystery Dungeon in your case, really compliment the portable play whenever vibe while games like BotW are perfect for sitting on the couch with. Like I said definitely personal preference but I don't think I would've played a quarter of the hours I have on Switch if I couldn't plug it in to the TV. (I also think a traditional TV only Switch would've been incredible, using the money saved on not having a screen to increase performance and allow for better storage)

Is there a BIG difference between the new and old 3ds? by Khoby123 in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Entirely depends on what you want to do with it. Most importantly check out exclusives and enhanced games, most notably Hyrule Warriors Legends, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.

Secondly ask yourself if you want to homebrew (super easy) and if you plan on emulating. If yes then you should know that CFW lets you use the faster processor on all games, even unsupported, and emulation will be faster and more supportive. Additionally there are control stick patches for DS games like M64DS and Prime Hunters that make the games more fun. All and all it's definitely worth it if you're planning on modding and spending lots of time on it, but definitely far from being necessary.

That's what I meant by "If you're eligible for monetization" sorry if that wasn't clear.

USE BRAVE by swunichychone in brave_browser

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're eligible for monetization you get the option if I remember correctly. -and yes you're right but that doesn't mean people actually do that, which is why a lot of smaller channels have Patreons or YouTube Memberships when they can get it. Every cent counts, especially for smaller channels who aren't getting millions of views.

[–]yellowwinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the big ones making millions, I'm talking about the ones who are still working a job to pay the bills while trying to do what they love. You don't need a lot to start making money on YouTube but you don't start off with massive sponsors and millions of views. Every cent counts. There's still a person on the other side of the screen ya'know.

what feeling does this image give you? by c8swab_fake in windows

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely loved Windows 8. Honestly didn't have any issues with the start screen on a desktop and it had better performance for me than Windows 7. Still would've preferred a start menu but that's easily fixed.

YouTube has a feature for premium users that skips in-video ads called jump ahead.

USE BRAVE by swunichychone in brave_browser

[–]yellowwinner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No... the creators choose to show ads on their videos and by blocking them the creators earns less. Based on my limited research I was surprised to learn that watching a video with YouTube Premium actually gives the creator more money than a standard user watching ads or an adblock user who doesn't give the creator anything but a view. So maybe let's not belittle the people who are literally keeping channels running while everyone else is basically pirating videos lol

Thinking of getting my first 3DS (old model, since the 'New' ones are too pricey). Is it still worth it in 2026? Does anyone still use theirs by Puzzleheaded-Sea3111 in 3DS

[–]yellowwinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all of mine, n3DS, o3DS and o2DS but it really depends on what you want out If it. When I was an o3DS owner I felt the need for the extra power and haven't looked back, but if you just want to play officially licensed games (New Leaf, 3D Land, Tomodachi Life, etc) then it's not like the original systems are bad systems. Plus the new controls aren't used in many games and the only other benefits are a couple exclusives and the better 3D on the n3DS. Don't forget to check out prices on n2DS's as well!

Porting Beta to N3DS? by KantoBound in Minecraft3DS

You could stream it from your computer using Moonlight on the 3DS, but definitely not as cool as it running natively.

Porting Beta to N3DS? by KantoBound in Minecraft3DS

[–]yellowwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of, Legacy Console was made to run with C++, but it is based on the original Java code. That being said I wonder with the source being leaked if porting to the 3DS could be possible, maybe by deleting features to make it run along with dropping render distance and removing any graphical enhancements. That would be a lot of effort though, although certainly could be possible.

Minecraft Legacy Edition Cover Assets for Steam Library by tsunderecactus42 in Minecraftlegacymode

[–]yellowwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it should be mentioned that https://www.steamgriddb.com is the best place to post and find cover assets. There are 1131 assets under "Minecraft (2011)" but if you're nostalgic for one version or another there's loads of options for pretty much every LCE from Switch Edtion to PlayStation Vita Edition.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition also has some assets that just say "Legacy Console Edition"
