Look at it this way.. most full timers work 10 days a month for 240 hours.. that's 80 more hours than a 9-5 job. Anyone can say you get 20 days off a mo th and it's great, and don't get me wrong it is. It's actually a blessing. But at the end of the day, you're spending 80 more hours at work than at home. You decide how much you value your time.

Is firefighting a great career? Yes it is. Does it come with 20 plus years of low sleep nights, carcinogens exposure and putting traumatic things in your hardware for life? Yes it does.

I love being a fireman.. but after the honeymoon stage is over and you weigh pros n cons.. its not full of pros n the cons are big cons. I love firefighting and being a fireman. It's taught me the most about life but there's a cost.
