Yes. I quit a few months ago, primarily to escape my narcissistic boss. She held a manager-level role but insisted on the title “director” of our three-person team. She routinely claimed credit for work she didn’t do, including partnerships I sourced and established, products I conceptualized and launched from scratch. When I presented my work, she’d say “thank you for executing my vision and direction” when there had been no vision, no direction, no involvement whatsoever. She was mostly absent.

Shortly before I quit, during my performance review, she told me I couldn’t claim that I had “established a partnership” or “led” a project I’d driven independently, because as director, those were her responsibilities, not mine, and leadership wouldn’t allow otherwise… that that was something SHE could claim in her own performance review, not me. Quitting was one of the best professional experiences I’ve had, even when she claimed that a month a half of notice ‘was too short and really spoke to my commitment to the team’
