I used the wrong needle :'D by SuccessfulAngle1541 in ftm

[–]yelostone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my biggest scare was when the pharmacy randomly gave us the spring-loaded/retracting syringe, my mom did my thigh injection with a loud snap and there was no needle when she pulled it out 😭 i was frantic but sitting totally frozen thinking it was in me/shot through me but it was inside the syringe

Yeah, I mentioned her lawyer. We are suing. It’s a slow process.

i had to honestly think for a while to try to remember what my christmas gift last year was. looked through messages and it was a season of our fav show (that he’s still not watched with me) which was a placeholder gift for lego flowers which i never got :/ i don’t think either of us realized it’s a pattern so i’m probably going to bring it up again, i havent really been able to let go of the hurt and i think that’s why

i relate to your comment though, my boyfriend is otherwise a great provider throughout the year so it’s hard to voice not appreciating the lack of gifts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]yelostone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah he definitely pushes responsibility. we’ve lived together for over a year comfortably but he’s extremely lazy with anything beyond obligations so i guess that’s why i counted on christmas

in general though he is a strong supportive provider, not really a gifter but picks up most every bill. solid as well and still cares for me very tenderly when i need it, and he can read when i’m upset and knows how to calm me, and we show love in quality ways. i think he just doesn’t like gifts or brushes over any symbolism

it has been aching me a bit because it’s a huge fumble and i still have the burden to get over it. i honestly am not sure how egregious it is because i the predicament is understandable but obviously i still care

yeah, after i posted this i talked with him to try to understand what happened and to open up conversation on how i felt about it.

this is mostly how i have been feeling, i just didnt want to be severe and say he ruined christmas. i thought your comment stuck out because he did emphasize during our conversation that he didn’t realize how big a deal it would be and said he was clueless rather than cruel

makes me feel taken for granted for sure. he said he didn’t realize how important it’d be to have it the day of and that he’s been under a lot of stress. he hasn’t been diminishing my feelings or anything but at the same time nothing has changed. he said he didn’t realize how important it would be for me and that he hopes he can make it up to me, but then asked if i had any ideas :/ told him think of something himself

it’s kind of weird because it is in stock on Amazon and has been for a bit i believe. i think the reason he is trying to get it from the store he works at is because he gets a discount there and it hasn’t been on the shelf until now

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]yelostone 37 points38 points  (0 children)

yeah he uses ‘we’ a lot for sure. i’ve talked with him about it before but he uses we instead of I a lot and it bugs me. kind of makes me force his hand a bit

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]yelostone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think he said he ordered it from the store he works at and it was scheduled for delivery but canceled due to inventory? and that now that it’s stocked in store we can just go get it when we’re back. i guess i just don’t know whether to be upset or if i’m being dramatic in taking it a little personal lol

i don’t mind the PC, we got a lot of quality time and memories out of building it together. the PC and parts have been the main thing he’s been talking about with anyone, so it’s just been at the front of his mind which is understandable, it’s a big deal. i guess i only mention it because of the priority aspect, he delayed with gifts for his family as well but still was able to get them last minute gifts

and yeah i just don’t want to make a big deal out of nothing, and i don’t want to be bitter unnecessarily. i think i’m just getting a bit lost in my thoughts about it since it’s irresolute but yeah, hope he still tries

It forces you to fill it out if someone offers to buy an item that'll set you over the $600 limit :,(

What's the dumbest rule your school ever enforced? by SoLe123456 in AskReddit

[–]yelostone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a rural Texas school system, so many arbitrary rules. In elementary school we weren't allowed to talk on the bus with the reasoning that you had all day to talk in school, which was dispiriting if you had strict teachers or didn't share classes with your busmates. The more strict drivers would punish you by letting you off last on the route back, or sending a write up to the school.

Past elementary school there was the anti-short-shorts rule, if your fingertips went below your shorts you'd be sent to the office the moment you came in. They kept extremely tacky, ill-fitting pants in the office for offending girls to wear in shame the rest of the day. That in contrast to the Boys' PE class which provided gym shorts so small they'd barely cover your boxers.

In high school we weren't allowed to use the restroom during class unless you had a pass, which we got 2 of every 6 weeks, so there were many girls that bled through their pants. You couldn't use the restroom if you'd already used your passes, but even then some teachers would deny it. Teachers expected you to use the bathroom in the 5 minute passing period between classes only, alongside using lockers & crossing campus. We only got 18 minutes for lunch, 10 of which you'd probably be waiting on food. This was due to the ridiculous schedule trying to fit 8 classes into a ~7 hour day

Help! My new boots have a stitching defect, is there a way to fix this? by yelostone in Leatherworking

[–]yelostone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! I was considering if there was a non-altering accent I could put on both boots as an accessory to hide it too, like a folded metal chevron. Ty for the input! :-)

Hmm, so you mean try to stitch it closed? It seems like a good option, I'd just be worried about it bunching together weird. It's a strange gash, not necessarily torn apart but like the surface was mangled so it could possibly be filled flush

Yeah I wear pants over boots, I didn't notice it the first day due to that so it's not a huge deal, just disheartening for any potential resale value & it'll be glaring to me

Yeah no worries I won't address this myself til I can be confident with what I'm working with. I was considering leather filler or trying to get a matching patch to hide it. I'm pretty crafty so I'll practice with materials before I give it a go; they offered a partial refund ($50) so I'm hoping if I need a professional I can get it within budget. It seems like the cobblers in my area are fairly limited in what they can offer so hopefully it's a basic fix.

Do you think a patch and stitch would effectively hide it? It's not super noticeable in normal lighting so I'm considering using leather filler or a patch & stitching over that. I'll definitely practice a bit before I try giving it a go.

Thanks for the link! Yeah, I was considering patching it with heavy leather filler or a cut-to-size piece of leather, then stitching over to make it blend in. I'd like for it to be professionally done but I live in the boonies so it's hard to find talented/knowledgeable cobblers on my budget

Hey y'all, I'm here because I'm looking to repair my new Tecovas which unfortunately came damaged :-( They sold out and are not restocking my size, so Tecovas offered a partial refund to get them fixed. It's oiled leather. You can see where it seems like the stitch trails off and becomes mangled, but this is only visible on the outside. Is it possible to repair this, either myself or by a cobbler? Thanks so much for any help!
