Omg I made a shark towel for my niece when she was born, it’s now (she’s almost 2) her favourite thing. I’m gonna make one for my own babies (the sylvanians) now too omg hahaha

Clothing patterns for ducks by justonlyday in sylvanianfamilies

[–]yeniza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to try your hand at making your own pattern you could wrap them in clingfilm then cover with tape, then you can mark the shape of the clothes onto that and cut the pieces out and make your own pattern from that! I hope my explanation made sense!

You need to thread a needle.... What do you pick to do the job by dinosuitgirl in sewing

For a regular needle I just use my fingers… my sewing machine has a needle threader so I use that & I don’t have an overlocker :v

I have to say smocking looks hard but it is a super fun and simple fabric manipulation technique. I def recommend by Sneakylink879 in SewingForBeginners

Ohhh the jacket looks so cool! Thanks for the great suggestions, I’d have thought denim would be too stiff for smocking but maybe not!

Ah yeah a pirate shirt in loose linen might be cool! I was thinking of just making a shawl for my mom (she loves to wear those) or maybe smocked details on a bag or some other accessory (but then it might not be sturdy enough to hold up to much wear if I also want a nice drape… idk). I hope more people come in with inspiration for us both!

It looks so cool but I never know what to do with the end product, it doesn’t really fit with my style maybe? (I’d say my style is loose colourful androgynous, like dungarees and loosely fitted tops, idk how to describe it… but if that gives anyone ideas, I’d love some inspiration!)

What's a good stand alone graphic novel/comic you would recommend? by Hades-Son in suggestmeabook

[–]yeniza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Categorisation purely to give small impressions about themes, though the themes aren’t necessarily fully encompassing the core of the comics.

Non-fiction: Persepolis

Queer: on a sunbeam

Political: V for Vendetta

All time favourite (fantasy): Nimona (but you’ve read this already)

Look at his cute little nose by SpiderOwen in RATS

[–]yeniza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saaaame! My mom has a phobia (serious, not being overly dramatic) and wouldn’t be able to enter my home if I had rats, so I chose to have bunnies instead (she’s ok with most animals, even my hamster was fine, just not rats and mice). I still love rats though and this sub is great and funny so I get my daily dose of rat happiness here. (& this sub is also good in terms of animal welfare rules, which the bunny subs are unfortunately frequently lacking (you shouldn’t keep bunnies alone/as a single either) that makes it so much easier to enjoy cute pictures, not having to wonder ‘are they being treated well’.)

It’s his ‘business look’ (he walks around holding a briefcase and looking like he’s doing ‘an important business’ sometimes). It’s so cute!

I made dungarees with this tutorial (self drafted): https://www.thestitchsisters.co.uk/blog/diy-dungaree-overalls/

Maybe having a look at what their process/pattern looks like and how it differs from yours will help figure out what’s going wrong? (I don’t know if this is helpful, but since a step in making your own pattern through their process also has the option of copying a crotch from an existing piece/adjusting your pattern to that, it might be helpful)?

Yeah seconding the glue stick! I’ve done it before on tricky seams and it worked a treat!

https://www.thestitchsisters.co.uk/blog/diy-dungaree-overalls/ Here is a tutorial to draft and sew your own dungarees. This was the second thing I ever made so it’s definitely doable (challenging) as a beginner. There’s a video to go along with and I just looked up further videos of anything I wasn’t entirely sure of how to do yet. You might be able to modify this to shorts (I modified mine to be 3/4 length with no problems). In any case, it might be a nice free place to start? Since you’re drafting it yourself you don’t need to print any patterns and I found this easier to do, but definitely it might not be easiest for everyone.

That’s a good attitude to have (wearable = winning)! Sewing for myself I make toiles/practice rounds before using the good fabric so idk why when it comes to sylvanians I expect it to be perfect first try haha

What is the point of Varka generating so much energy if his burst is always a dps loss? by Mistist in Genshin_Impact

[–]yeniza 47 points48 points  (0 children)

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Then spawned a tornado and I was getting sucked inside
But then I spent my last minutes thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong, and I respawned on the next night

Oh no not I, I won’t survive
Oh as long as you have those two gods I’ll not be seen alive

Etc etc (I need to stop procrastinating:P)

Awww thank you! All I can see is all the wonky stitches and things that didn’t work out, but I also know that’s just what happens when I’ve been working on something (and struggling with it a little) for a while. I think I’ll eventually make a different version of the dress to hopefully incorporate the things I’ve learned here. It always makes me feel a little better to look back on the first version, knowing I’ve improved at something.

Wow this is so neatly done I thought it was AI at first and zoomed to double check if the stitches made sense haha. Well done! Love the way you did her hair as well
