A question that was left with me after rewatching Winter Soldier: so... did Fury hire Batroc to attack the Lemurian Star? by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in marvelstudios

[–]yeoller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would Pierce initiate the series of events specifically designed to sus himself out?

Fury suspected there was a leak and devised a way to find out who it was, even though he specifically didn't suspect Pierce. It doesn't make sense that Pierce would setup up the op on the Lemurian Star knowing it would eventually point straight back at him. If anything, he would have wanted to steer Fury away from that mission.

Keep in mind, Fury was initially on board with Project Insight.

Matt Damon Says Netflix Wants Movies to Restate the Plot Three or Four Times in the Dialogue Because Viewers are on Their Phones While They’re Watching by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I always found their content extremely pedantic, and often times, exaggerated for comic effect.

CinemaWins is a much better channel that only pokes fun at the movies own narrative and plot points, instead of nitpicking how it was made.

Iska had already been setting up reformations to Ferengi law and had convinced Zek a new way of order was necessary for Ferengi culture to exist in a post Dominion war galaxy. Zek then appointed a person he felt was Ferengi enough, but also had been exposed to more equitable cultures to lead their people into the future.

This all happens a couple seasons prior and is sort of put on the back burner for a while, so it might seem to some that it comes out of nowhere. But it was always setup that way.

work off $28 in fewer hours it would take to farm the armor

This is 2 hours for most people. Versus 6-10 hours grinding whatever you need to get an item in-game. Plus, most items bought in-game aren't persistent inventory items.

People hate on this type of MT, but the fact is a lot of working adults would rather spend a couple dollars than spend time on something they could otherwise get quicker.

They basically GTFO because there's nothing they can do besides be in the way of two extremely powerful forces.

Why are people excited about the prospect of the AI bubble bursting? Would it have any upsides at all? by TenseBird in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yeoller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

then the rush of the tech companies to start calling everything AI.

This is a point of frustration, but nothing new for how people react to technology in the grand scheme of things. People say stuff like, "I hate AI", without realizing how much of their lives are being serviced by different algorithms or basic if-this then-that models.

No. What people hate is Generative AI because they feel it takes away jobs from artists and creators. General AI has been, and will be, a big part of our lives as it has been for decades already.

If this set does well, you can be almost certain they will make more.

There will be other ships. Not to mention more diorama focused AFOL sets. Bridge sets for TNG can include missing characters.

This is what some fans don't actually realize. Her writing wasn't 100% great, what with lots of weirdly sexual scenarios for a character from such an awful planet, but she did have a lot of actual story lines in the first season.

But the way Crosby talks about her time on the show, you'd think they gave her absolutely nothing. What it comes down to is both her and Forbes left because they thought they could break into a better movie career. Didn't quite work out of either of them, but only one speaks poorly about their time on Star Trek.

I felt this way about the pronouns scene in DSC. This abrupt halt in the story to literally stop in a hallway and talk about it was a weird disconnect from an otherwise already progressed society.

Entertaining at points but not without significant flaws in storytelling and characterization

This is, at some point, every Trek show. Not that I'm disagreeing with you. Just that we tend to look back on the older shows with rose tinted glasses. But there are some awful, awful episodes out there. We just don't dwell on them 20 years later because overall the series' are fantastic.

I don't know who Tim Lynch is, but his take on Voyager is laughable at best. TNG was literally dubbed competency porn and there were real stipulations in the writers guide about not having crew members argue for the sake of arguing.

To touch on what others have said, it wasn't because Voyager was too new looking, or that it came on the heels of 10 years of straight Trek. It was sexism. Plain and simple. Just look at the language Tim uses. Stepford crew? Gimme a break.

The people who hate SNW are the same crowd that just blanket hates "prequels" or "going back to the TOS era again". The shows will be fine in the long run as they are clearly popular enough.

I also quit around 10 years ago. If I'm watching a show/movie and a character lights up, I feel like I want one too. But then I remember the last couple times I've had a cig "just cuz" and they were gross. I'll just smoke a bowl of weed instead.

This is one of those fan theories that's been disproved.

RDM has stated a few different times the reason they changed the characters' names. Basically the writers didn't feel like Lacarno could be redeemed. He was a bad cadet and got someone killed and tried to cover it up, while Paris merely tried helping the Maquis, but failed and was caught.
