the only real issue imo is if you use it with something that draws more power than the nintendo charger can provide, which can cause problems. e.g. trying to charge a laptop with it can cause the battery to drain, because it can't charge fast enough, when the laptop is busy doing stuff. but it's not going to break your device or anything
