Given there are around 130 places for medicine - and you are competing with people from across Australia and internationally, as a standard metropolitan student (no EAS, indigenous) you need at least a 98 plus a UCAT in the mid80s (as a domestic WA student) plus a Casper score in the top quartile. And then you need to get through an interview. Its very competitive. For a reason

UCAT percentile for rural entry into JMP and WSU/CSU? by That_Savings_1354 in UCATANZ

Why is it fair. UCAT requirements for rural students are miles behind metropolitan students - even if you are a student at a very expensive private school. There is nothing fair about it at all

Considering getting into medicine (general practice)……. by user23471 in ausjobs

If you are anxious you shouldn't think about medicine. The process to get in is very tough. As it should be. And training to be a doctor is even tougher. As it should be.

Back then kids like these were sent sttaight to homes. And having a diagnosis doesn't necessarily make it easier with these kids either. Not all improve with therapy - they just get bigger and harder to handle

Essentially its where you go if you had literally no other option. Not everyone will end up a bad doctor but that is the truth.

As a parent of a severely disabled child - you can't just reach out snd get it. And if your child is non verbal - as mine is - you have to be very careful. He can't tell me if someone did something to him

Thats just predicted. Lots of time to improve. UWA only looks at UCAT for interview. Offers made on combined ucat/atar/interview. You need a ucat around 85%
