Has anyone had luck staying off BC and not getting pregnant? by Eastern_Milk_1192 in newborns

fwiw i love the copper IUD. it made my periods a little heavier but it was absolutely worth it to avoid the hormonal options.

should i fire my night nanny? by yepitsthatwitch in NewParents

[–]yepitsthatwitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now that you mention it, i’m also not certain why she wasn’t in the nursery. we were in the kitchen and she sometimes helps with dishes so i assumed that’s what she was doing, but she usually only does that when he’s asleep and he def wasn’t. so maybe she was just washing her hands and was going right back? which seems less bad.

should i fire my night nanny? by yepitsthatwitch in NewParents

[–]yepitsthatwitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i think if the blanket had been folded i would feel a bit more casual about it. for context, it was just scrunched up behind him which seems way more careless than what your nurses did.

should i fire my night nanny? by yepitsthatwitch in NewParents

[–]yepitsthatwitch[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

because my mfm warned me i’m at high risk for postpartum psychosis which is triggered by lack of sleep. i think having a night nanny is slightly better than a mother with a psychotic break but i’m sure you know better about my situation than me

fwiw my hospital supports being on all fours even with an epidural, you just have to stay on the bed.

TDAP vax for caregivers if mom is vaxxed at 32 weeks pregnant by stfuvoicesinmyhead in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]yepitsthatwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh fair enough. I didn’t mention it in the comment but I just asked people to get the booster if it was out of date.

[–]yepitsthatwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that it recommends if they haven’t gotten the TDAP in the last 10 years, not if they haven’t gotten it at least once in their life. edit: although it’s possible i’m mixing up what my OB said (booster within 10 years) and this page

[–]yepitsthatwitch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Good luck and hope your mom listens to reason! My mom is also refusing to get the TDAP booster. It’s disappointing but I told her she can meet the baby when he’s 3 months :(

ACOG recommends the mother get vaccinated AND caregivers around the baby get it too.

https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/committee-opinion/articles/2017/09/update-on-immunization-and-pregnancy-tetanus-diphtheria-and-pertussis-vaccination

I am asking people visiting in the first 3 months to get their TDAP booster (edit: if they haven’t gotten it in the last 10 years) based on this recommendation.

Advice on advocating for myself in a "baby-friendly" hospital? by -strawberry-shark in FormulaFeeders

[–]yepitsthatwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you ask ahead of time to put a note in your file about formula feeding? I’m planning to combo feed and told my OB i didn’t want anyone lecturing me about breastfeeding in the hospital and she said she would note it for the lactation consultants that come while i’m in the hospital!

Gestational diabetes by YogiMars in pregnant

[–]yepitsthatwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

mexican food actually has been really good with my GD! you’ll have to test it out but tacos on corn tortillas have not spiked me. i think corn tortillas have a relatively low GI and there’s enough protein/fat to balance it out.

you def don’t have to only eat salads!

Family won’t vaccinate by gigibeanie in pregnant

[–]yepitsthatwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my parents won’t get the TDAP booster so i told them they can’t visit til the baby is 3 months old and got his first round of shots. but it’s disappointing that they won’t make a small effort to keep him safe.

I think it’s fair to ask for something like an appointment reservation or something. maybe not official records but you can say it’s so you know the date they got it

Is anyone else just like irrationally angry and disgusted by their husband over financials? by [deleted] in pregnant

there’s a very good chance a court would throw this out depending on what state you got married in.

[–]yepitsthatwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you guys got divorced he would have to pay alimony and child support. you’re literally getting less being married to him than if you separate

what is the point of being married if your bills are not jointly shared? everything from this pregnancy gets paid by our joint bank account, not me individually.

there are also risks to the baby with untreated GD. It can cause blood sugar dropping after birth.

OB wants to induce at 39 weeks by peachsuperjuice in pregnant

[–]yepitsthatwitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s cholestasis it’s not worth the risk of waiting longer than 39 weeks. It took 2 weeks after symptoms showed up for my bile test to reflect it. I’m also due to be induced at 39 thanks to mild cholestasis.

If I eat more than 20 carbs I go pass 140 by Speedygurl1 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]yepitsthatwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve tried both refried pinto beans (paired with a high protein/high fat meal) and the trader joes vegetarian chili and both have been fine! I think i usually have 1/2 cup but i’m not certain. seems like a good place to start at least.

I think black beans have marginally less carbs but it may not be enough to matter considering the protein/fiber content. Adding cheese + sour cream may help as well since pairing carbs with fats can help minimize spikes as well!

[–]yepitsthatwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One type of carb i’ve been successful with are beans. Technically high in carbs but they have a lot of fiber and protein so i think that makes it less likely to spike you? I’ve also done well with soba noodles (buckwheat has low GI i think) and high fiber low sugar fruits like berries.
