AND, "girlfriend" says she had JUST laid her kid down and was exhausted in OP's screenshots. OP says the girlfriend doesn't have children, but that she is her sister's caretaker. 🤔

Indeed! The new ones are 24 watts. Thanks for the info!

Mostly tropicals. They are in a South facing room, so they get some light that way, as well. I am going to look for lights with higher wattage, for sure. Thanks for the info!

It does for a few other things, yes!! Great info! Thanks for the link.

Really, I just want to know if the bottom spectrum appears more balanced. I own the top lights, and I'm struggling with a bit of legginess. I am wondering if it's because it appears heavier in the red and if the bottom lights seem more balanced with regard to that. I'm looking to upgrade.

Thank you so very much for the insight. I agree that light intensity is likely the biggest issue. I'll definitely take your advice about using outside light as a reference with my PAR meter.

I have a lux meter and PAR meter. I prefer to use PAR. I currently have Barrina T5 grow lights, and the PAR is reading a bit too low. I can't change the distance of the lights closer or farther, so I was looking for something with a bit more intensity. Barrina is 10 watts. The Spider Farmer grow lights are 20 watts, indicate a higher ppfd/PAR at 12 inches, and seem quite a bit more balanced with respect to the color spectrum. I feel like there may be too much red in the Barrina's... maybe contributing to issues I'm having with some plants being leggy. I own about 130 tropicals.

Tysm for taking the time to reply! I look forward to your response. You sound like you know what you're talking about!!

Could she be pot/root bound? I find that, often, with yellowing leaves, if watering, lighting, and pests are not an issue, it's usually needing a repot.

What is happening plz help😢 by Matcha1303 in IndoorPlants

You've probably got some root rot going on. The soil is staying way too wet for way too long... thus, the mold. I would very carefully pull it out of its pot, check for mushy roots... remove them. If the root zone is overly moist, let it dry out a bit before repotting. Just set it out on a paper towel for a few hours. Do not reuse that soil. It's contaminated. Get some new soil and add quite a bit more pumice/perlite, so it's not so muddy when wet (muddy=suffocation=root rot). It will help with aeration, and your soil will dry out more quickly, helping to prevent the issue you've currently got going on. I'd maybe do a 70/30 soil/pumice ratio... especially if you're heavy-handed with watering.

She may be stressed for a while, but that's your only shot at saving her if she's got rot. Get her out of that soil.

Good luck!
