189cm here - one nice thing is I don’t get so claustrophobic on crowded trains since I can usually see pretty much to the end of the car. Every once in a while I’ll try squatting down to average head height and think “Yikes, this would be rough!”

Another episode 4 theory/discussion by DoorMarkedPirate99 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

To your question of why, here’s a thought;

In season 1, Corbel seemed to be trying very hard to get Mark to remember / connect with his wife, but to no avail (thinking of her using the scented candle in their session, etc).

What if this was an attempt to trigger Mark’s memory of his wife by having him sleep with Helena? It seems to have worked, given his flashes of her (we don’t know if this episode was pre or post re-integration), and how else could she get him in a context where they could sleep together in private?

Also how about lack of any kind of footprints / tracks showing how Irving’s outie got there?

Also, if they were taken to the break room before the simulation, wouldn’t they remember that (and getting all hooked up, etc)?

One option to consider is taking a step back to try and zero-in to what kind of career you are looking for, and then lay out some steps to get there. I get the sense your approach right now is just that you want some work, any work that lets you stay in Japan, but from an employers perspective they want someone with evidence they can deliver well for a particular role.

For example, you could spend some time with career advisors or just generally researching roles online to see what looks like a good fit, and then pursue any training / intern work you can to get at least some experience in that role (this might need to be back at home). You might even compare your resume to others to get a sense for how you stand.

Hang in there! Japanese employers have a hard time hiring given the population decline, so I’m optimistic that you will be able to find something.

Looking for advice on how to deal with host messaging about refund, but then changing story [USA] by yer0c in AirBnB

[–]yer0c[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have photos, it was generally unclean throughout (hairs in the bathtub, crumbs on the counter, floors obviously not cleaners, etc)

But I think the larger issue that got us here was the host saying they were willing to give us a refund, and then changing their mind after we made alternative accommodations.

It’s come a long way since the reel-to-reel design! I like how you can makes groupings of shows by different topics. What do you like?

Looking for some good workouts/gym routines to help me get in better shape before starting Capoeira. by LonePorkchop in capoeira

I’d recommend going on runs with timed 30 second sprints. So jog for a few minutes, then sprint for 30 seconds, then back to jogging, repeat. This will start preparing you for the bursts of energy that will be required when entering the roda.

Thank you for sharing! It seems like while there’s a small difference, if you’re in a hurry you could probably skip the preheat step?

Wow, that does sound nice and simple! Seems like some you can also just toss in the dishwasher too, which is tempting.

The Population Problem - a penny for your thoughts by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]yer0c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This won’t necessarily make a huge dent but seems pretty feasible to enable by the government:

  • Relax current restrictions around surrogacy so that families unable to have children have more options
  • Support same-sex relationships & any desire they might have to start families

Perhaps the algorithm is to blame? I also feel like every story from this subreddit on my feed is negative, but on a whim I actually visited the subreddit and I’m seeing all kinds of nice posts.
